When starting my Durango, it reves up and down several times for about 1 minute and then starts to idle normally.
I have a 02 5.9 liter R/T and I dealt with this aggravating issue for about a month (and $700+ dollars later). Come to find out it was a simple fix. Replace the IAC (pronounced eye-yak) Valve. A $300 fix at the dealership and that includes the part cost + labor and the $99.00 Fuel Injection cleaning service to clear out the debris. Since the IAC was replaced it runs like it's brand new again. Smooth idle from start to finish and cruises like a cadillac. Best of all, my gas mileage shows 18.1 to 18.9 city and 23.6 to 24.8 Highway. Hope this helps! Drive Dodge
