Air idle control valve, I dont belive you have a ideler set screw..I do belive the problem is what I have Listed..........Best of luck

How can I tell if I need a new air idle control valve?
If your car has a rough idle or the idle cycles up and down, then chances are that you have a bad idle control valve. On modern vehicles, the purpose of the idle air control valve is to regulate your idle, and keep the idle smooth. The idle valve is controlled by the ECU or the computer, and when in gear the idle should be between 800 and 1000 rpm, and not in gear, between 700 and 900 rpm

Just as a note. The proper way to adjust the idle is by correcting issues with the engine
The computer is designed to properly adjust the idle on vehicles. So you have a sensor or device issue with your car. Could be the egr system, or the Idle Air Control, or the throttle position sensor.
There IS an idle screw, but do NOT mess with it. To properly adjust the idle you must disconnect the SPOUT connector then adjust the base timing and idle. If you don't have the repair manual for your vehicle I highly suggest you get one if you are going to be working on it yourself....

Where is the idle screw located on a 1999 Saturn need to adjust the idle..Still trying to find out why car will not stay running

There is no screw to adjust the idle , the PCM - engine computer controls the idle with the use of IAC valve , Idle air control valve ! The Base idle is set at the factory an you need not try to adjust it ! You will cause running problem an the check engine light to come on . Try cleaning the throttle plate and the idle air control passages .

Set idling via screws

Most older cars had 2 adjustments , a air screw for enrichment and throttle screw for engine idle speed, later models did away with the enrichment screw, to adjust set idle screw to 600 rpm, adjust air mixture screw to fastest rpm , reset idle screw to preferred idle speed.

1997. Idle seems a bit high. How can I adjust it? I'm getting awesomely high mileage both city and highway but i think it could improve still more and the idling speed feels too high.

The idle speed is controlled by the engine computer through the idle air control valve , there are no provisions for adjusting idle . If idle is to high or you just think it's high , you need to test ,don't guess . Watch this video that shows what happens when you adjust thing's that you should not . Adjust idle speed 92 camry

The idle speed is not designed to be user adjustable, the computer does this by adjusting the idle air control valve, which probably needs cleaning. Another possibility is the A/C idle-up vacuum valve, which may have failed. See here p212 and 228

Ford Focus Wagon ZXW Idles too slow. Need to adjust Idle up. How do I do this?

Right now look at the front of the engine behind the exhaust manifold and their are two breather pipes connected to a T connection that comes from the engine and check these pipes as if perished and split the engine will not idle .You cannot adjust anything without a dealer software to reset the mapping so check these pipes first and iam sure you will find their split and gone soft

How to Adjust idle RPM for a 2003 honda accord. some people were talking about a screw on the throttle body. but I can't find that screw. How do you go with adjusting this and where to find it ?

First, you shouldn't adjust the idle. If the idle isn't correct, that means there is an issue somewhere - not that the idle needs to be adjusted.

There isn't an adjustment screw. To adjust the idle, you will need to move the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) forwards or backward. To do this, you will need to remove the tamper proof bolt and replace it with one that can be loosened and tightened.

Need adjustments for 88 model carter 2 barrel carburator. fits 4.2 jeep

To set carb adjustment, first set timing correctly, then put both a vacuum gauge and tach on the engine. adjust one idle screw to highest vacuum reading and highest tach reading, then do the other one. go back to the first and re-adjust again, then the other. I find that if you have a mechanical screw or a solenoid that holds idle speed on the linkage, turn them back so that engine is idling at the lowest possible rpm without stalling before making adjustments, then when finished, bring idle rpm up to recommended rpm using those. On an older carb, usually the idle screw covers have already been removed. If not, you need to remove them before you begin, usually best done with carb on a bench.

How do you adjust the idle for a 2002 gmc safari

the idle isn't adjustable. you might want to have the idle air control motor checked out. they are prone to sticking in the open position allowing more air into the intake

Idle

you should never have to adjust it, it is adjusted by the computer using the IAC (Idle Air Coltrol) valve.

Why do you feel that you need to?

if the idle is too high or too low then you have a problem with the car that needs to be adressed, not the idle
