1997 Chevy Cavalier. How do I bypass the anti-theft system forever?

Question edited for clarity and correct name of vehicle.

You can't bypass it Cherie, it involves transponder chips, receivers and the engine computer (ECM).. The anti-theft system is there to stop theft of the vehicle, basically what you are trying to do. You have to fix the system, not find a way around it. This is the reset. As long as you battery is good and fully charged, it should only need doing once.

Just leave the key in the run position and the "Theft System " light on the dash will be flashing. Leave the key on for about 10 minutes and the light will stop flashing and go on solid. Then the theft system is disable.

Dash lights blinking right after start up

Does it seem like it's losing power? Headlight and interiors dimming down? Seems like it would be the alternator either going bad or already gone

Toyota cavalier car coughed and stopped, idles rough and cuts out when accelerating, 'theft control' light on dash

The reason stated by you comes if the key is not properly inserted. Insert the key properly. Also reason for your problem can be due to fuel pump and ignition switch which are related to anti theft security system which protects your ride from robbing. You can go through following site for a detail description on how to turn the theft light off.

My dash lights and radio lights blink from bright

It sounds like a poor Ground connection, Start by checking the connector that connects to the Instrument Cluster then see if one wire is terminated to the Metal components of the Dash Board. This would be the Master Ground connection for ALL Instrument lights and typically would include any other Lights on the Same Circuit. You will most likely find a loose sheet metal screw making this Ground Connection. With a high resistance connection the lights would be somewhat dim. If they flash between Dim and Bright it is an intermittent connection causing it. Almost always this will be found to be a loose screw connecting the Ground to the Chassis.
