Change the sensor. Check the electric cooling fans and Relays. Some fans have 2 speeds and may not kick into high speed. The radiator operates more or less closely to the block temperature. A Laser thermometer would tell you what the operating temperature is.
Not sure I follow you. The engine temp sensor sends a signal to the engine computer and the computer decides when to activate the fan relays. So if you have power to the fans you would also have power to the high or low speed relay the temp sensor is probably working. There is a third relay for the ground circuit.
I would say the code said the sensor was not giving the right signal. Very seldom does a code state to replace a part. There may still be a problem with the camshaft or the relationship to the crank. (timing) As for the temp sensor, if it is faulty you should get a trouble code for it.
2001 3.0L Ford Taurus sel looking for the temperature sensor the videos I see that the gauge sensor and a temperature sensor or together the car I have it's not like this separate it which one is it?
Make sure your cooling fan is working properly. Let engine idle and when the temp goes up make sure it kicks in. You could also try changing your thermostat. This controls the amount of coolant going through your engine. If it is not opening it is not allowing coolant to cool your engine causing it to overheat
I would look at the positive cable at the battery and at the starter. Pull the cabel off and a continuity test to see if the wire has a internal break if the wire gets even a pinhole it can build corrosion on the inside of the wire and when a current is put through it it seperates (from the resistance and arc from corrosion) causing the wire to seperate internaly.
The Taurus has Two temp sensors. One for the dash, which is isolated, then one for the PCM, it also controls when the fan relay should actuate. Its a 2 wire sensor, just above the thermostat. If you remove the harness from that sensor, and the cooling fan comes on, at any temp, (should take 5- 10 seconds) then thats your fault.
Did you buy a Ford MAF sensor? There are some brands that are not reliable or accurate. Buy a Ford MAF sensor, if your mechanic has decided that the MAF is faulty. You may have a leaking fuel injector, bad coolant temp sensor, bad oxygen sensor, dirty air filter, clogged exhaust system.
