L have a 2003 Nissan Primera 2.2 TD SVE. l have always done my own servicing and repairs on the many cars l have owned.
l want to buy a hand held or elm type diagnostic tool to interrogate the onboard diagnostics. l can't afford Nissan's own Consult.
As OBD 11 didn't come in for european diesels until 2004 can anyone out there in the community guide me to a suitable diagnostic tool for my car?
Thanks

I'm not sure which model or year you have but one of these sites should be able to help you.
Good Luck!
I believe the only way is to use an OBD II reader. Many auto parts stores have these and will read your error codes for you (usually no charge). I do not know if they will reset the codes for you as I do my own.
The most likely cause of most problems electrics on that model is the poor earth connection on the rear light cluster. There is a simple fix which you can find on the nissan primera owners club website. www.npoc.co.uk. The fix is easy to do and involves putting another earth from the rear cluster to the bodywork where there is an existing bolt. It solved my issues.
The problem is that your sunroof is operated by a PCB which contains computerized programmed IC. This problem is not with battery. You might have been operating your sunroof when your battery was down. The programming of IC has been disturbed. Take that PCB to the service centre.
Always operate your power windows/side mirror/ sunroofs when your car is start because these power stuffs have high rated motors.
When the car is start it's load is on genrator/dinamo therefore it does n't have any effect on battery.
turn ignition to position 2 turn off radio push and hold info button whilst turning volume button on radio a new menu will appear on screen go into confirmation adjustments then go into service and reset
I could recommend a product I use on my own cars called SeaFoam. You can buy it at most autoparts stores like PepBoys and what it does is clean out alot of the carbon buildup, which improves gas milage and gets the engine running like new. Just follow the instructions on the back.
