I asked you get back to me on the other page.
You will have 1 or 2 COP Coils go bad every year
I also own a 2004 V8
Yes and no
I asked that you get the codes
PO301 thruPO308,the last # being the cylinder
If you get just a MIL Lamp and say a PO 303,you can
replace that coil and see what happens
The example I gave you on the ETC Failsafe, is not something a dealer
is aware of. People on this site have spent up to $4000.00 at a dealer
when my 1 bad coil, you install yourself, would have cost $70.00
You will get several codes that you ignore, on an LS and stay with the
coil swapping.
I hope you have a V8 or the intake will have to be removed to do some
coils.
You may want my phone #, so you can knock this down your self
Do you have a 7mm wrench and socket. That is all you need on a V8
To answer your question another way
If autozone gives you several codes,3 are coil codes ,then what?
I have the answer,it it not to replace all the coils.
We need to know why your into Failsafe, IF it isn't coil related
I went to autozone yesterday and said it was a bad cat so I punched them both out and cleaned them and its doing the same thing as yesterday with the fail safe. One cat was bad and broken up inside and the other was good. When I put it all back together with the O2 sensors in, it ran fine for a few seconds unlike before I punched them out. I will go down tomorrow to get the codes again from autozone and give them back to you. I do have a V6 and am aware of the other 3 coil packs under the manifold...pain in the ****. I'll be in touch tomorrow. Thanks for all your help
A converter does not fail in less than 12 years without a reason
Overheating ,rich fuel mixture,vacuum leaks,etc
Im hoping it will be one of the coils as thats an easy fix.
What do you get on the dash,as far as failsafe goes?
I get the wrench light....as soon as that comes on after driving 5-10 seconds it goes right into fail safe
You will need to replace both cats, have no exhaust leaks,
and I would do all 4 O2 Sensors, but you could wait and see
how it goes.
There are too many monitors on our LS's, to write a book on
I spent over an hour studying today for you
I believe you had one or two bad coils for the better part of a year
You were not aware of the misfire condition and the converters got ruined
Now without the monitors able to evaluate the O2 Content from the rear sensor
you have no injector control, thus, while I have not found the technical explanation
you have a MIL Lamp and can not complete much of any monitors functions or
start or end any drive cycles.
Bottom line,no O2 in a good and funtioning converter,your done,won't run
A simple coil failure a year ago, caused a lot of damage and expense.
The Fail-Safe thing is something else. Lets get the exhaust done then continue on
Spray the throttle plate with CRC Throttle Body Cleaner,Spray the MAF with CRC MAF
Cleaner,check fuel pressure
I wrote a whole new chapter today, and it went puf, gone
I will wait until I hear from you. Got a lot of info
First,I write whole book of info today,
then a brief note to say it went puf,and that is gone.
Got a lot of good info for you
