1999 subaru outback wagon

I have trouble getting it to go into drive. It doesn't do it all the time but sometimes you have to hit the gas to get it to go into gear.

Had the same problem. It's most likely the forward clutch seal in the auto-gear box. They're rubber and prone to breaking up around 100k miles. Look at around £800 to have a replacement fitted by an automatic specialist.

How urgent to get a catalytic converter replacement for a 1999 Subaru outback sport with 160,000 miles on it?

depends, if it just not working, or if it has restricted flow. If its restricted, get it done ASAP.

My 1999 subaru legacy outback (wagon) trunk won't open. I can hear the lock opening and closing but I can't get the trunk to open. Sometimes I try it like 50 times and maybe it opens...sometimes it opens...

This is very common. The hinge on the handle gets dirty and rusty and it does not return all the way. Push the handle all the way to the return position then unlock. It should open then. I use WD-40 on the hinges of the handle every 2 months to keep it free. Hope this helps and have a great day.

My car is a 1999 Subaru Outback Station wagon. We

two things you must address, first the tires may need rotating, 4WD cars need all tires to be close to the same size or conflicts in gearing occur, second change the oil in the rear axle this can cause noisy operation.

1998 Subaru Outback Wagon Grinding Noise/Squeaky Brake/Gas Gauge

The first issue, I would have the brake calipers checked for either a pin stuck or one of the pistons stuck, It is a dual piston caliper and sometimes one will stick causing pad to angle slightly. While inspecting the brake issue also check your wheel bearings, which may be the squeak. On the fuel issue, I will tell you a secret, LOL, but Subaru has set the fuel gauge to read E but still have about 5 gallons of fuel left. I use US measurements, but trying to use my head I believe you are getting about 22-24 MPG from what you said and that is pretty good. I hope this helps a bit and have a great day.

2000 Subaru Outback transmission problem

After a good deal of research and several shops suggesting a rebuild of the transmission, I decided to have the trans fluid and filters changed before doing anything. It was a tough call because it could have been a waste of $125. As soon as the spin off filter was removed you could see it was blocked. So the hydraulic pressure in the system was way down, still enough to engage reverse and enough to work all the shifts, but not enough to engage forward without a slight tap on the accelerator.

My Subaru has 240 000 km on it and I suppose the clutch pack rebuild wouldn't hurt, but as it is now it engages quickly and shifts up are noticeably smoother.

May not be the solution for every case, but it solved my situation.
