I just put a used cylinder head in my 94 tercel and it runs great, but when i put the car in gear it runs really rough and sounds like its going to stall. How can I fix this? It has an automatic transmission

Time for a new car, unless you want to spend the big bucks to repair your engine. Low compression, below 100 psi, means the cylinder will not fire, will miss, have low power. The reason could be a blown head gasket, worn rings, valves not seating properly-at the very least, the cylinder head will have to come off. Before doing that, though, do a leak down test to pinpoint the cause of low compression in that cylinder. If just one cylinder is low, and you have good compression otherwise, it may be worth fixing. Tercels are low value beaters, but I owned a '94 tercel, and I loved it, till the engine went south, just like yours-body was too banged up to make it worth fixing, though.
Pull the plugs. Sounds like you have a bad plug or a bad plug wire. Even an engine that misses will run well at high speeds but if it's missing at idle you might have a little oil on one of the plugs. I had a 91 tercel, ran great but leaked a lot of oil which would in turn foul the spark plugs. I'm sure you either have a bad wire or plug. Wouldn't mess with the idle, not sure what state you're in but it could impact emissions testing. Best of luck m'friend! Greg
have you checked the fluid gear oil itself 1st hmmm would you elaborate on this for me is the linkage connected and have you done any work to the said vehicle prior or just one day woke up and this is the issue
Answer: The engine noise, it is impossible for us to help you here without listening to the engine ourselves. As for your idling problem, check all the vacuum hoses and intake manifold gaskets as you might have a slight vacuum leak somewhere. In addition, check the idle speed control motor to make sure it is operating properly. If all checks out okay, scan the computer for fault codes. Scan the computer for fault codes. Also, check the oxygen sensor and coolant sensors and also Check your EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve it sounds like it is stuck open and needs replacing
