I wouldn't trust someones advice who can't spell simple words! Some parts are perfectly good to obtain from a junkyard, but specific parts that are essential to the stability of the car as well as the safety of you, your passengers, and everyone else on the road that take as much time, tools, know how, and connected to so many other essential stability parts, a junkyard part that you have know idea the history of, no warranty, no liability for failure and deaths or injuries because of failure, THAT IS TERRIBLE ADVICE! SOME PARTS, LIKE THIS, ARE DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE BOUGHT BRAND NEW! Would you choose to flip a coin that the result could be the deciding factor whether you, your passengers, or innocent others driving on the road near you would live or die should your junkyard part that IS ESSENTIAL TO SAFETY AND STABILITY OF YOUR CAR FAIL? HELL NO!

It is much easier, and cheaper to find a steering knuckle or "hub assembly" in a salvage yard.
To begin, jack up the car and remove the wheel. Be certain the car is stable and will not roll off jack(s)!
Remove the spindle nut. Remove the brake caliper (hang on a wire). Remove the bolt for lower ball join. Remove the bolt that goes thru strut. Now, pull assembly off while prying to ease pressure from the lower control arm.
Depending on how many miles you have on the car, you might want to head-off some future trouble by replacing the half-axle while you have the front end disassembled.

A CV-JOINT is either good or bad, and YOU WILL KNOW! There are examples of parts you might as well replace while you are doing work relative to what you are doing like plug wires, plugs, brake pads, etc... If you're changing one plug, change em all, if you're replacing one wire, replace em all, if you're replacing brake pads on either one rear or one front wheel, change the ones opposite too! But as for CV-JOINT if it aint broke.....................................dont Fudge with it. Now you should inspect it, the boot, and add grease if needed but thats it if it aint broke! WTF

How tight should a wheel bearing nut for a 1999 Chevy Malibu be?

If the bearing has been newly packed with grease, tighten the nut until resistance is felt then spin the wheel many times.

Then, and any other time, back the nut a few flats, then tighten the nut until all play (wobble) is removed from the wheel when grasping it at the tread and rocking it hard as you can. Then advance the nut to the next position where you can insert the split pin.

99 Chevy Malibu belt chirping noise problem.

one or more of the pulley's is defective, most likely the tensioner pulley, but check them all for wear and side to side movement which indicates a worn bearing, this causes the belt to not run true and chirp.

1999 CHEVY MALIBU

Your car has a hub assembly for a wheel bearing to get this off you need to jack your car up, Take off the tire, Remove the 2 bolts behind the caliper to take the caliper off, remove the rotor ( you may need to hit it with a hammer to get it off as they tend to rust onto the hub) Then there is 3 bolts on the hub remove them to take the hub off and install the new hub. Hope this helps.
