I HAVE A 2002 AVALON. THE INTERMITEN WIPER DOES NOT WORK AND WIPER BLADES DO NOT GO TO PARK. CAN ANYBODY HELP. THANKS

Hello,

1. After you have removed the old wiper blade make sure to remove any adapter left behind on the actual wiper arm as the new blade should come with a multi use adapter.
2. It should just be a bare metal rounded hook bar now.
3. Now if there is not adapter on the new wiper blade then put the one provided on. Often times the wiper blade comes with this adapter already on the wiper blade.
4. Pull the wiper arm out a bit and set the new blade under the open section of the wiper arm.
5. That adapter will have a little play to it.
6. Push it up a bit so it fits in the slot on the wiper arm and pull up on the wiper blade and the blade should "click" into place.

Do the same for the other side and your good to go. I also recommend Raine X for your windshield. My experience as a mechanic and a storm chaser has proven Rain X to be invaluable in severe weather.

The problem is a broken part in the module which is inside the wiper motor. As far as I know, the part is not available, and you must replace the entire wiper motor to repair the problem

easiest way is to go to a parts house and buy the blades and ask then to install them for you. Its free and then you will see how its done.

you will need a flat screwdriver about 5/16 or 3/8's wide. to pry your wiper blade off. pull back on your wiper arm while prying with your screwdriver. work on both sides of your wiper blade, you will notice it starting to come off a bit at a time. just keep working it till it falls off.... good luck sawdust46

I've fixed this problem before. You have to disconnect the wiper transmission from the wiper motor. Put wipers in off position, unbolt the plate on top of wiper, turn wipers on then off. In the off position see where the wiper transmission is position in relation to where the park position is, remove the top plate from wiper motor and position it so as to be able to reconnect the wiper transmission now in the proper place. If the wipers end up in the vertical position and they are the HIDE type usually its the park mechanism mounted on top of the wiper motor that the linkage attaches to, there is a small spring loaded lever on the bottom of this device that wears out and fails to activate the PARK position proccess when the wipers are turned off. When the wipers turn off the motor reverses and the lever is meant to catch on a tab and compress the mechanism pulling the wipers to the park position. Only thing I know what to do is replace this mechanism, ($150. new 25. used)

i presume you mean the blade... just to give you better access... turn on the key.... turn on the wiper... when it gets where you want... shut off the key
