Just in case anyone else needs to know...there is a place to pout the key next to the handle that you open hood with over the license plate. You cant see it without bending down..

You can use the key to open the boot, the keyhole is hidden above the license plate with a cover

Battery is dead no key for trunk just door and engine. How do I get in the trunk

Sometimes you can let down the back set of a Volvo and get into the trunk. Some trunks are equipped with a trunk release to open it. See if the back seat will let down.

The fuse boxes are located in three different places:
A - Relays/fuse box in the engine compartment *
B - Fuse box in the passenger compartment

Check your 2000 Volvo S80 - Owners Manual (page 127 adn next for details).

S80 electrical issues

Sounds like the rear electronic module is malfunctioning. How do you get the trunk open to find out the light is not working? The REM controls all of the functions you describe in your post. If you can get the trunk open then to this:

Disconnect the positive and negative cables from the battery and touch them together for at least 5 minutes. Don't worry, you will not be doing any damage to the car or yourself. Place the cables back onto the battery and then lock and unlock the car. See what happens. If it works then your rear electronic module (REM) needs a software upgrade at your Volvo dealer, about $120 USD.

Hope this helps.

Cannot unlock trunk

Why don't you charge the battery under the hood so you can pop your trunk. You can't do anything with a dead battery.
