The SL is the small 4 door
The SC is the 2 door Sport Coupe
The numbers refer to the engine. The all have a 1.9 liter. "1" is a Single Over Head Cam, 8th VIN will be an "8". "2" is the Dual Over Head Cam, 8th VIN will be a "7"
So a Saturn SL2 with be a 4 door with a DOHC 1.9 liter. SL1 will be a 4 door with a SOHC 1.9 liter. SC2 will be a 2 door with a 1.9 liter DOHC. SC1 will be a 2 door with a 1.9 liter SOHC.
Make sure the Master Lockout button isn't ON.
There will be a different power source for Windows and Locks
You will still need to start by checking the fuse
Your Owner's Manual should have a decent description of location of that fuse.
Also keep in mind that a 2000 is 15 years old and lots can happen.
See if: 1. Door open or closed - and which door - makes a difference (that may indicate a damaged wire in door harness - Jam area)
2. Wiggle or hold down the "Window Lock" button to see if that is an issue (Master switch problem)
If all the windows don't work then start with the above - it is most likely associated with power or ground to the switch. You will probably have to physically remove the switch to check circuits at the switch connector.
Let me know what you find
Thanks
Viewing wiring diagrams for the affected systems an testing with a DMM -digital multi-meter is the way to find the fix. Do you know how to do that ? Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. year ,make , model an engine size . Under system click on systems your having problems with . look for something they mite share , power feed ,ground etc.... Watch the video Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know
check the main window fuse if fuse is good check to see if your getting power to the master switch at drivers door if your are getting power to the switch but not out replace the master switch
Without proper electrical diagnostic equipment and based on the very through description that you gave I would suggest getting a new switch. I say a new switch because on the drivers side the switch is one giant junction block. I have the same vehicle and had my door panel off for some locking issues.
I have attached a link to Ford Direct. The part that you are looking for is Window switch, explorer, 4 door, right
