Wife parked car. went to start 4 hours later spun over like nuts will not start was low on fuel but not out.i thought maybe timing chains or crank sensor.called dealer took car said they did a compression test said it was all crazy no 5 0 said timin was perfect say bad rings or something .said they have never seen this before .say i need a $12000 new motor .makes absoulty no sense.what do ya think?????

I agree that it does sound crazy.
Perhaps for 12 grand a second opinion may be in order here.
A properly running car does not all of a sudden require an overhaul unless there was catastrophic failure.
There had to be a reason behind it all. They should have a proper answer for you as to the cause.
Questions such as this should be answered.
"Did the oil pump fail?"
"Was there coolant loss or signs of overheating?"
"Are there particles in the engine oil?"

Is this dealer reputable?.....I wonder, seems just a little suspicious to me.
