My car did the same thing, upon checking the fuel line found two kinks kind of like a z shape which burned up the fuel pump. Changed both filter and pump and it runs fine with a lot more power. However you can not let the gasoline get below 4 gallons for this is what cools the fuel pump. Any less can cause problems, just going up hill or around a curve on low fuel causes the pump to be exposed. Arkansas
I had a similar problem, mine problem was a combination of 2 things. 1. fuel pump wasnt making enough pressure 2. destributor needed replacement
Fuel strauner inside tank
SOURCE: bogs down
Even though this is an old post i feel it needs an answer since there is 225 followers wanting an answer. This situation sounds as if this vehicle is either suffering from the Throttle Position Sensor switch which has bad spots in it causing lack of voltage or the Fuel rail pressure regulator which can not keep the fuel pressure built up in the fuel rail making the auto veel like it is running out of fuel. And the transmission speed densor which also controls fuel. The situations for each device has a test that can be done to determine which one it is. And last but not least lets never forget our fuel filter this can cause the exact same problem. I am eliminating the cam sensor because it stabilizes at idle. Eliminating the crank sensor because it too at idle also stabilizes and returns a smooth idle. So a fueling problem is what we have here one of the above. Enjoy and if you need help determining which one just ask me I will help you figure it out. Please rate my advise thanks it is how i receive my achievements.

Mine is alright tell summertime once its hot out. I live in Phx, It seems like its running out of fuel ? I changed the fuel filter and even replaced the cat convertor. nothing
Car starts & idles fine, drives well for several miles then begins to cut out, backfire and lose speed.Pumping accelerator pedal will give intermittant power-sometimes running smoothly for a few minutes, but always returning to loss of power, backfires..Stopping vehicle & engine, then restarting will get power back but only for short distances until problem begins again.
Parking the car to "rest" 20-30 min help only slightly.
i have daewoo espero 97 model, i have the same problem, the different is my fuel pump goes into noise like whiiiiiiiiiiiiiing, and after a few miles it will lose power, some time back fire.
