there are 3 ways to lock.
key metal
on door switches
and the FOB, RKE.
so is this a fob question? key fob? only failure???????
did you know that many fob modes are PROgrammable?
the operators guide tells you how to do that.
did you try both fobs, that came with car new., if not why not?
did you replace the 8 year old fob batteries, no , why not now.?
on my 08 (for example) :
can program it to only open drivers door. or all.
and autolock feature off or on.
on my other car all was worked fine. then drives door failed
to open (all 3 fobs fail, one is new) the door solenoid was bad.
$100 part. now fixed, by me.
so do all fobs fail. if in fact this is a FOB question
RKE (called remote key entry by jeep)
i have 4 fobs for my jeep now. you must have 2 good keys.
to make a 3rd by self.
so keep 2 , never ever used. to be self sufficient.
this is not a door issue, above 3 lines, its a not getting stranded issue.
Often times when this happens this is a problem with your door switch. The doors being locked or not does not necessarily mean that the alarm is not armed. When the door switch begins to fail the alarm senses the door being opened even if it is closed because the switch is sending a signal that the door is open. You could just need to reprogram the FOB as well.
Unfortunately the FOB must be programmed at the dealer or a technician with a proper interface. You might be able to ask the dealer to test your FOB first.
The switch you will notice on the inside of the drivers door and is activated by opening and closing of the door. You can pop that switch out and look at the wiring and give it a little cleaning and see if that helps. If it does it will be temporary and the switch will need replaced.
1. get in the car 2. shut the door 3. place the key in the ignition 4. lock the doors, manually 5. turn the ignition to on then off...do this seven times 6. unlock the doors and try your remote
Call the dealer and they can send a locksmith to cut you a new key to get in the Vette without any damages. Your going to have to show prof that the car is registered to you for the locksmith to cut you a new key.
hi seems like water is getting inside the drivers door and getting on the alarm switch inside the door or it could just be afaulty alarm switch its the micro switch that connects to the door lock yatse210456
