2001 ford explorer sport. The driver window regulator took a dive. I took it apart, fixed the regulator and when I reassembled the motor and regulator, it was a little difficult. I had to try and readjust the motor before bolting and when I pressed the automatic down switch, it went all the way down, jammed the mottor pulling the cable harness tight. and then stopped. I since bought a new motor, but this didn't solve the issue. Could I have blown a relay or when it jammed one of the wires was pulled to tight. The wires harness looks pretty sturdy. I ruled out the control module, since it worked prior to the motor pulling the wires tight. and damaging the wires to the original motor. Please help, I hope it is just a simple relay. Maybe they need to be reset.

SOURCE: 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Fog Lamps

The light on your interior button should only come on when the lights are on, so I wouldn't worry about that until the lights are fixed. There should be a relay for your fog lights. I would check your underhood fuse relay box. switch that relay with another, such as fuel pump. I lights come on and now vehicle won't start, you know that it is the relay you have now put in your fuel pump circuit from your fog lamp circuit.

Common problem on 2001 Ford Explores. The reason why your door handle doesn't unlock the door(can't be unlocked by remote either)is due to a broken spring located on the backside of the door handel INSIDE the door. True that your one(or two) of your small exterior springs on your door handle are broken(will cause your handle to flap) but this IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM. The door locks will work if there is a bit of tension holding the handle bracket up. I know it's hard to explain without pics. but here's the ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS. It's not that hard.......... Remove the door panel, only a few screws and a few more holding trim around exit handle then, pull out "snap in" clips on bottom. With a flashlight you'll see back side of door handle. To get to that area you'll have to remove one bolt holding a window frame. Do that(with window in up position) then slide down rail, out of your way. Now, get back to handle. With your light aimed at the backside of handle left slowly the door handle as normal, and you'll realize(while looking at the mechanism) that tension(pulling down of bracket) needs to occur in order for locks(manual and remote)to work properly. Trust me.....you'll figure it out. Once you do, get a spring(pen spring, 30 cent hardware store spring, any small spring!) and hook one end to bracket and the other end to ANYTHING(OUT OF THE WAY) below the door handle thus, causing SLIGHT tension. Try your locks...THEY WILL WORK! YEAH! Replace that one window frame bolt(try your window...just the make sure), replace door panel and your done. TOTAL COST: 30 cents or FREE(if you have a small spring) Ford dealers will charge $150 to $285! Yikes!

SOURCE: 2001 ford winstar. both rear vent window in-op. is

  • The window switch goes to to the motor. No relays or fuses for just that. If it was a fuse or relay all the windows would be out.
  • Check your master switch again as this is where the wires come out of for the vent windows. What ever is effecting one is effecting the other.
  • 2 wires from the master switch for left window and two for right window. Left = yellow and black and yellow and lite blue and Right = black and black and yellow.
  • Pull the switch up and check them pins for polarity at them pins as you push the switch to open or close.
  • Make sure the switch is good.
  • There is a harness in the drivers door as you open it. Slice the casing opening to expose all the wires that run through. Often wires crack in there.
  • What ever is effecting one is effecting the other. Make sure you used a new master switch not a salvage yard switch.

The driver's side window motor assembly popped apart on my 2001 Honda Odyssey when I began to roll the window up....luckily the window was down so the glass didn't break. The motor still works but I'm not...

You will most likely have to replace that window regulator (which is the entire lift assembly) since once it comes apart, there is play from worn parts and it will just come apart again in the future.

How do you replace a front drivers side power window motor? It is stuck all the way down and I can't pry it up. Is there a way to release it so I can get to the motor to replace it?

You have to remove the door panel. Remove the window from the regulator( two screws that hold the glass to the regulator) . Pull the glass up and wedge two pieces of wood from bottom of door to hold the window up.
Make sure its the motor thats giving you the headache and not the regulator. Regulator is notorious for snapping from the motor.

Driver side power window all of a sudden quit. I hear a clicking noise when I qperate the button to try to lower it.

Start by removing the door panel. Peel down the moisture bearer (plactic) Then you need to remove the window motor. You will see thrtee star screws remove these and the motor, take themotor apart and check to see if the plastic plugs are operational, if not you can replace with ball besaerings or plastic plugs. Pack with wheel bearing grease. It could also be the door regulator. To remove these you will see two too 4 aluminum inserts holdin in the regulator and window, using 1/4 punch punch ourt the rivits and drill out the aluminum using 1/4in drill. Replace with 1/4 bolts and locking nuts. Do not over tighten the bolts on the window or it wll roll lup very slowly. May want to check all of the windows, when one goes normally others will follow. Regulators can be purchased much cheaper by internet.

My drivers side electric window stop working 2002 ford sport trac. how do you change the motor

To remove the door panel, phillips head door screws should be removed, and the panel should slide up. Next, unbolt the window from the regulator and remove the window from the door. Then unbolt the regulator. The regulator and the motor have to be removed together. The motor will be mounted to the door on the inside. There should be three screws or nuts (10mm) holding the motor in. Remove motor and regulator. Reverse to reinstall.
