2005 jaguar s type gearbox fault light. Code read p1396

p1396 is a engine managment code. variable valve timing solenoid b malfunction, not a gearbox code. you really need to take your car to someone with access to suitable diagnostic equipment to help sort this problem out, hope this helps,

I have a 2001 audi a4.. while driving all my dash gear symbols keep flashing.. also from when put in drive it takes a little to engage and pull of... any ideas pls

First thought: you are low on tranny fluid. There is no dip stick. Only way is:
a) cool car (tranny fluid cold)
b) take drain plug out
c) get fluid hand pump (Autozone)
d) feed fill tube into drain hole
e) pump tranny fluid (check for your car) in until it starts running out.

Officially, tranny fluid should be 43 deg C as shown with VAGcom diagnostic. But I have good results with just room temp car (just not more).

As always: best to find someone with VAGcom (VCDS) and have him run a full diagnostic scan. It will tell you more regarding your problem.

In dash reading reads " Gearbox Fault". I don't

It means you have a problem in the shifter. Is it a five or six speed?

Am replacing the steering gearbox on a 1996 GMC 2500 Sierra, 4X4, 6.5 Diesel due to a worn input shaft. On the worn gearbox it is noticed that the most forward of the two hydraulic ports in the gearbox has...

I don't know but I suspect it will matter which port the restrictor and check valve are fitted to.

I personally wouldn't worry about the six stud vs eight stud argument. People tend to buy their own commercial vehicles and there are usually many available options that can be specified at order and fitted during production or changed later. The purpose is to make the finished vehicle more suitable for where it will spend the majority of it's time.

It is usually possible to buy a commercial vehicle with the "wrong" equipment fitted that is still in a proper condition... In my experience it is certainly not unusual to buy one sort of truck and uprate or downrate it in order to qualify for a different rate of taxation.

GM vehicles used to be fitted with a plate embossed with lines of groups of 2, 3 or 4 numbers that are meaningless to most people but when decoded tells the story of the vehicle options fitted to the vehicle - gear ratio, fuel and air filtration, suspension and so forth...
It is best to be guided by those and the chassis number and certainly fit like-for-like unless it is for an approved modification.

AUDI A6 SIX SPEED TIPTRONIC GEARBOX SEEMS TO BE IN WRONG GEAR AND APPEARS TO HAVE SLIPPING

I have been having similar problems. The clutch is slipping as thats how you get the variable gears when in full auto, but this is where the problem comes from, some garages (auto gearbox specialists) are now able to fix it. Do not go to Audi as all they do is replace the gearbox (very expensive). There is no quick fix though! Sorry for the bad news!!
