Changing your oil has nothing to do with the engine light, if your check engine light is on then theres a problem, the computer stores codes when it sees a problem with the engine not operating correctly, you may not notice anything strange but something is wrong, the codes help in finding the problem, for example the code is po236 coolant sensor circuit. this would mean theres a problem with the circuit for that sensor and with some testing the problem can be repaired, you can go to a autopart store and they will scan the codes and give you a readout of the codes if you give me the code or codes i will be able to help you more, the engine light is reset with a scan tool or leaving the battery unhookedfor about 10 min,, the engine light will come back on when the computer sees the problem during its constant testing of all systems. hope this is helpful.
The check engine light has nothing to do with the oil change ,if it is on it needs to be scanned for codes and essentially repaired before the light will go out and stay out

first, though you mentioned no oil leaking, is there oil in the engine?
Next, if engine runs well and is not ticking or tapping, have the codes checked...most larger parts stores do this free. Once you have the stored codes you can look up what system is malfunctioning.
If engine is making any noise at all or there is no oil in it, DO NOT START OR DRIVE IT...make sure whoever did the oil change knows about this now...If someone forgot to put oil in, they may be buying you a new engine!
At this point it may be something simple but can also be very serious.(hope not)
good luck
