HOw do I replace the transmission control solenoid in a 2001 chrysler sebring? My car will shift into reverse, neutral and drive but won't shift the gears while driving, sometimes if you shut the car off it acts like it resets and it will work again. Repair shop told me it's probably electrical which could only be the transmission control solenoid.

SOURCE: 1991 Caprice No reverse. Moves in neutral. All forward gears OK.

What engine? Rear wheel drive ?Sounds like shift linkage or cable out of adjustment slightly. Have a look at where cable or rod attaches to transmission for adjustment. If not sure of what your looking for get back to me with info.

Sorry but if your reverse is having trouble you will probably have to replace or rebuild tranny like me. Otherwise try new filter and fluid first.

My 2001 Chrysler neon is not changing gears. Drives on gear 1 and reverse only. I replaced the entire gear box but the problem is not solved.

troubleshoot this further:

Check Transmission Fluid:
The first step is to inspect the transmission fluid. Low or contaminated fluid can lead to poor shifting performance. Ensure the fluid levels are adequate and replace it if necessary.

Throttle Position Sensors and Shift Solenoids:
Misaligned throttle position sensors or malfunctioning shift solenoids could be causing the gear shifting problems. These components play a crucial role in proper gear changes. A professional diagnosis is recommended. It is not unusal for a defective solenoid to render this effect.

Transmission Control Module (TCM):
The TCM manages the transmission's operation, including gear shifting. If it's malfunctioning, it can lead to incorrect or no gear shifts. Consider checking or replacing the TCM.

Shift Linkage or Cable Issues:
Damaged or worn shift linkage or cables can also cause gear shifting problems. These components connect the gear shift lever to the transmission. Inspect and replace any damaged parts.
Remember that diagnosing transmission issues usually requires professional expertise.

62te trany 2008 sebring in reverse wants to go forward drive positions no movement

Hello
The issue you're describing with your 2008 Sebring and its 62TE transmission not moving in drive positions but trying to go forward in reverse could be due to a few different things:
  1. Transmission control module (TCM) failure: The TCM is responsible for controlling the shifting of the transmission. If it fails, it can cause the transmission to behave erratically.
  2. Shift solenoid failure: The shift solenoids control the fluid flow to the clutch packs in the transmission. If a solenoid fails, it can cause the transmission to behave abnormally.
  3. Low transmission fluid level: If the transmission fluid level is low, it can cause the transmission to shift erratically or not at all.
  4. Wiring issues: If there is a problem with the wiring in the transmission control system, it can cause the transmission to behave abnormally.
To diagnose and repair the issue, it's recommended that you have the vehicle inspected by a professional mechanic with experience working on transmissions. They will be able to diagnose the problem and make the necessary repairs.
Have a nice day

My 01 chrysler sebring wont shift into any gears

Check that the shift linkage is connected at the trans, if it is, put some transmission fluid in it after checking the dipstick while running in neutral with brake on.

2001 Chrysler Sebring does not shift. I can put it in reverse and drive and it runs, but it does not shift out of first gear. Speedometer still works. Transmission fluid shows that levels are fine.

might be a pluged filter in the transmission check that and it could not hurt to take it to a transmission shop to have them run a trouble code on the tranny
