MK3 Golf 1.8 Driver M-reg Cutting out.

Hi, i have a mk3 1.8 golf driver, M-reg. This car runs a treat, but when you approach roundabouts, whenever you go left, or pull out fast from the roundabout, she cuts out. Oil and battery light come on, then off. As soon as you turn the key, it starts great again. Also, after travelling about 90ish miles, it seems to do the same thing? Please help as my wee mk3 is a dream to drive and i have put a lot of new parts on her to dispose of it. :(

Hi, yes i have put a new filter on it about 4wks ago. My other thought was it could be rubbish in the tank, so i'm going to go fishing in it later for rust etc. Thanks again.

VW Golf MK3 1996 P - Car cuts out when slowing down. Battery and Oil lights come on. Restart the car then starts juggering. Its not a fluid purring from the engine.

i would start by cleaning out the throttle body. they collect soot and not have to be a lot either for it to mess up the idle speed, i had trhis on mine soon as i dipped the clutch to slow down the rpm dropped to about 400 to stall, i cleaned throttle body out ( taking air intake off and wipe round inside and the butterfly will be enough) and now it idles and the rpm dont drop below 900

Remove window winders for mk3 Golf

hi there, it will be one of two ways, either theres a little horse shoe shaped clip that sits inbetween the winder and the door panel, failing that then the middle of the winder should flick out and there will be a screw that screws through the winder and into the panel, hope this helps

Golf mk3 2.0L

Hi

One major cause of a hot engine cutting out is crank sensor failure. The sensor overheats, the engine cuts out, and then once everything cools back down the engine will start and run again.

Another possible cause is the O2 sensor.

A live scan would show up any problems.

Regards

Geordie
