SOURCE: MY GLOW PLUG LIGHT IS FLASHING IN MY DASH BOARD VW

Despite what you may read from other comments....The glow plug light is simple a multi function warning light and IS among many othed things in fact used to warn of brake light and brake light switch failure. Therefore it can NOT be treated as glow plug problems only.
I have worked on V.W for many years and have encountered this problem many times. You should get the OBD codes read. This will reveal the exact problem...and there may be more than one
You can contact your V,W agents if you wish and check to see if I am correct.
Best of luck

SOURCE: 2005 VW passat 1.9 TDi "immobiliser activated" on display

There may not be any other way to fix it except to replace your instrument panel. That's where your immobilizer is located. Or you could try this:

Try cold-booting the car. Remove both battery cables from the battery. Short the battery cables together (away from the battery) for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the battery. No guarantees - I found this info at tdiclub.com.

SOURCE: Air-conditioning not icy cold inside my VW Passat TDI 1996

chances are if you system was serviced by modern equipment then they would have pulled a vacuum before recharging .. that would eliminate moisture in the system .. the evaporator is inside your heater box .. you cant see it .. the condenser is the radiator like device in front of your engine cooling radiator ..

if the system is changed properly and still does not work or works intermittantly . then there is a good chance that the air conditioner clutch electronic module is bad .. thats a relay like device located on the drivers side behind the dash .. you have to snap off the dash side panel .. its normally hidden by the door .. inside that is the fuse panel and behind that is the relays/electronic modules .. the one that operates the air conditioner clutch is marked 384 .. there are other possibilities depending on your a more precise description of the problem ..

SOURCE: VW passat coolant warning light on

There's a level sensor plugged into the bottom of the coolant reservoir. Unplug it and clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. If that doesn't do the trick, replace the sensor.

You very well may have a bad park brake module located under the center console, it will have to be replaced aby the dealer because it needs to be programmed along with the ECM and the Electronic Brake Control Module. Hope this helps

On a Paasat 2.0 tdi Bkp engine shows emission garage and i have repalced the EGR valve and all glow plugs but it still comes on

try cleaning the air filter out ,the easiest thing to do ,then if its still on return vehicle to a dealer as its encrypted software and i honestly do not think any code reader will interface with this vehicle, unless its a american built model where the OBDII has to be able to read engine temperatures and so forth for the emmisions test but i do know for a fact that this model will not let me read the OBDII for anything let alone the emmisions test as its in the programme of my Creader but i just cannot connect ,(europeon model)

Engine managment light flashes (glow plugs light)

the car is going into limp mode due to an engine management fault. have to check what the fault is with a code reader. if the milage is high 100,000+ could be a turbo fault (overboosting), as this will put the car into limp mode.

Turbo lag and lack of power

Hi,
This is the second Vw I have responded to in a fortnight.
Your lack of power I presume always happens when the glow plug light illuminates?
This is because it is causing over combustion to vaporised diesel, I would be looking in the Glow plug timer and relay, as for Turbo lag, I run a E34 6 cyl Bmw Diesel and the Turbo only kicks in around 2,500ish so maybe yours is a little tired or in need of a check up?
Hope this helped,

02 VW engine light that stays on

You probably need to replace the glow plug harness. The contacts in the boots that connect to the glow plugs get corroded and throw off the resistance of the circuit. The controller in the VW measures whether your glow plugs are good or not by testing the resistance in the circuit. Test all the glow plugs like DickyIV1 stated and if they are all good try cleaning out the crud on the contacts in the glow plug harness. You will then either need to clear the error code or wait several trips for it to clear itself. If it never clears itself or if it comes back on after you clear it then the glow plug harness is too much of a mess. This is really common on the TDIs (mine needs to be changed but i have been putting it off and ignoring the mil light). When I first tried cleaning the harness on my car it didn't give me a problem for another year and a half. But I knew I'd eventually be changing it.
The other thing to keep in mind is that you should change out glow plugs as a set. It causes less problems in the long run since if one failed you will probably find other will soon fail and it keeps all the resistance close to the same value.
