While driving my 1996 GMC Jimmy the check gauges light came on and my car started to overheat. After I stopped and tried to restart the car, the car would not turnover the only sound it was making was a clicking sound. Now today the car started but I noticed the oil gauge was high. What could be wrong?

Definitely get the codes read if any. But usually the check gauges light is telling you to monitor the gauges due to a pressure problem. If the oil pressure gauge is high it could mean there is a blockage in the flow from the oil pump to the heads if there is a blockage it will cause the vehicle to over heat (at the least!) It will also destroy the engine! Have a mechanic run a pressure test on the compression, oil pump, and oil flow to the heads.

SOURCE: fuel gauge stuck on half full

I can tell you almost for certain your fuel level sending unit is bad, I have been able to fix them though. It requires removing the gas tank and then the fuel pump. You can if your inclined, bend the brushes on the small circuit board over more so they will make better contact on to it. Other wise its a new fuel pump assembly, check all plugs and wiring by unpluging and repluging them to insure no bad connect. It is possible it could be the guage itself, but in thirty years of fixing cars never had a bad guage

SOURCE: 2005 GMC Sierra Overheating

If your sure there is no trapped air in system after refill and air bleed off, is fan clutch pulling good air thru radiator? Even if it is, the heater should have coolant as hot as what temp gage is showing! Try backwards flushing heater core (dex cool is notorious for plugging these up). There is a TSB for cracked cylinder heads from GM for unexplained coolant loss.Remove drivers side valve cover, and look at center three head bolts for coolant around them, if coolant has been getting in thru this suspect area, there will be a milky/pudding like goo under valve cover and on head. GM had a company called Castec cast these and the areas near the head bolts were found to be too porous (NO recall YET!) Ya, you guessed it, replace heads! Unfortunately, if its gotten hot to many times, it has probably hurt the heads/gaskets. Hope this helps. PS: The castec logo is under the rearmost pair of rocker arms, may have to remove them to see.

SOURCE: gmc Envoy with erratic fuel gauge.

I have found that just about 100% of the time this condition is caused by a defective fuel gauge sending unit in the gas tank.

1996 gmc jimmy started making noise sounding like it is is right front was told need to replace wheel hub which was done. Still making the same noise in 2 wheel drive. when you push button for 4 wheel...

Sounds like your front axle is trying to engage but does not engage fully.check your vacuum going to the t-case switch and then if that is ok check your vacuum at the front axle actuator. It is located under the battery tray.
