Try changing your thermostat. This is a valve that controls the coolant going to your engine. It might not let enough coolant to go through to cool down your engine. Most commonly the case. Otherwise you need to flush your coolant system because something is blocking the coolant from passing through your system

My 01 Pontiac Montana is trying to overheat at high power

If your vehicle doesn't actually overheat, just getting hot, I think that's the normal behaviour for these cars. My 03 AWD behaves the same way. When driving uphill, especialy when towing, the temperature rises close to the red marking, but I have never experienced it overheating. I think that the temperature has to rise much over the normal driving temperature to activate the two electric fans.

Car gets temp gauge goes when sitting idle, why?

Have you checked the coolant level after you did some driving. Often you will get an air lock in the system which will eventually work its way out after you drive a little. As the sender for the temperature gauge is at the top of the engine, it is possible that it is not fully immersed in coolant and hence is giving bad readings. Topping up the coolant will fix that. Some vehicles can be very hard to purge of air and some even have air bleed points located on the top of the engine as it is the only way to get all the air out.

Check engine light comes on and then the temperature gauge goes up to hot

Mine did it too.... The problem is the Engine Power Relay.

The Engine Power Relay is in the relay box in the engine compartment. Aftermarket relay is cheap, but the original Ssangyong part will last many years longer.

Hope this helps.

When i am driving my 2002 buick rendevous, the temperature gauge sits between 1/4 and 1/2. however when i have to sit idle ( ex. like at a red light) the temperature gauge creeps up to between 1/2 and...

This is normal. The gauge should sit at around the 1/2 mark. And it will go up at idle until the fans kick on then go back down some. Fans will kick on around 210 degress

C 1997 sc2 saturn I am going through a cup of anti freeze a day and the car temperature level creeps up while i am driving. Is this a tempatate problem or a fan. No sure.

the anti freeze is going somewhere, either a leak is dumping it on the ground or a breach by gasket or crack inside the engine. i think you need to have someone take a close look at it ASAP. these things do not fix themselves.

Fuel gauge faulty / gives weird levels of fuel

The fuel level sensor is bad. The tank will have to be taken down to replace the level sensor. There is little fingers on the resistor that wear down and loose contact causing the gage to read incorrectly.
