Keyless Entry
The keyless entry keypad is hardwired to the GEM. The GEM interprets the inputs from the keyless entry keypad and then controls the associated operation. The keyless entry keypad will be illuminated for five seconds when any button is pressed. Additionally, it will request the illuminated entry feature to turn the courtesy lamps on. If a lock all doors code is entered, the illumination will turn off, as well as request the illuminated entry feature to turn off the courtesy lamps. When pressed, the keyless entry keypad supplies the ground signal to the GEM or the GEM receives a signal from the keyless entry remote transmitter. Then the GEM outputs a ground signal to the appropriate lock or unlock relay which supplies the power to the actuator to lock or unlocks all doors, including the luggage compartment. The keyless entry remote transmitter also unlocks the liftgate or activates the panic alarm by sending a signal to the GEM.

Did you fix it yet? mine is doing the same exact thing. I touched the boot in the driver door where the wires go into the door and it would work for a second but then stop. It must be a broken wire inside the boot. I am going to take it apart today. 400 miles out of warranty. Go figure.
My truck does the same thing. They unlock fine from button, fob or keypad but will not lock at all unless the locks are pushed down manually.
I have a 2005 f150 FX4. The head lights come on when they feel like it and the door locks work on there own with out me doing anything. I do hear a chatter coming from the fuse panel.
Same exact problem. Not really sure how to fix still.
Same problem...2005 F150 Lariat Supercrew.
Yes this was the problem. I removed the driver door switch cluster and removed the lock switch and found the spring steel had no snap in the lock direction. Gave it a little more bend and reinstalled. It worked OK but the steel is fatigued and still no snap like the other switches that aren't used as much.
