check the trans with the engine running in park, there are two levels on the dipstick, cold and hot, personnaly i like to check it hot, as to the brake problem i need more info
It sounds like you have a fuel delivery issue. I would replace all of the fuel filters. Usually when you have a clogged fuel filter the car will idle fine and may drive ok at part throttle, but when you call for more power it will buck and stall out.
