The throttle cable is connected to throttle plate. When you depress the throttle body the air enters in the engine. There are mostly two cables coming from throttle body. One comes from gas pedal, and the other the transmission. The transmission one is called 'kickdown cable', it tells the transmission when to 'kickdown' to a lower gear. Pressing hard on the gas pedal makes the car down-shift because the kickdown cable to the tranny gets pulled tight. The tighter the pressure on the kickdown, the less pedal pressure it will take to make it downshift. You can get the cable replaced or the plate as per the damage.
The required parts can be easily available at local car auto parts.Or at home depot.
