Welcome to FIxYa.com

The upstream oxygen sensor is typically found on the exhaust manifold that is bolted to the engine block. It may be as far up on the exhaust as the the manifold piping located in the front of the engine under the hood. The sensor looks like a plug sticking out of the exhaust piping and will be the only plug inserted into the exhaust system.

Important:

Removal of the oxygen sensor is easier when the engine temperature is above 48CC

(120T).

' Handle the oxygen sensors carefully in order to prevent damage to the component.

Keep the electrical connector and the louvered end free of contaminants. Do not use

cleaning solvents on the sensor. Do not drop or mishandle the sensor.

REMOVAL

Numbers in ten in parenthesis correspond to numbered components in image.

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Disconnect the sensor harness connector.

3. Remove the oxygen sensor.

INSTALLATION

Important: A special anti-seize compound is used on the oxygen sensot threads. The new

service sensors should have the compound already applied to the threads. Coat the

threads of a reused sensor with anti-seize compound P.N 5613695 or the equivalent.

1. Install the oxygen sensor.

Important: Make sure that all of the harness retaining clips are intact. The harness

must not contact any of the hot exhaust components. The HO2S pigtail has white

tape at the intervals, indicating the proper location of each retaining clip. When

connecting the sensor pigtail to the harness, ensure that the connector seal is

crushed uniformly all the way around between the connectors.

2. Connect the sensor harness connector.

3. Lower the vehicle

SOURCE: upstream oxy. sensor signal wire, what color is it?

In my 1990-1995 manual it is Black/Dark Green.

Dark green/orange is 12 V supply, Black is ground, Black/Light Blue also comes from the powertrain control module but is common to many other sensors.

SOURCE: 1997 Dodge Stratus V6 oxygen sensor location

Upstream, as in ahead of the converter, back toward engine. Start at converter and work your way back, should be on exhaust pipe or even on manifold.

How many o2 sensors on the 05 grand jeep Laredo 3.7 are upstream and downstream sensors the same?

The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.7L typically has two oxygen (O2) sensors. One is located upstream (before the catalytic converter), often referred to as the pre-cat or upstream sensor, and the other is located downstream (after the catalytic converter), known as the post-cat or downstream sensor. In many cases, the upstream and downstream sensors are not the same and serve different purposes in monitoring and optimizing the air-fuel mixture and emissions.

Is the bank 2 sensor 1 oxygen sensor on a 2010 Saturn outlook on the upstream or down stream side?

The upstream on bank 2, which is the opposite of bank 1. Bank 1 is the side with the number 1 cylinder. Downstream oxygen sensors (after the cat converter) are always sensor 2, as in Bank 2, sensor 2.

Were is the heater sensor upstream located on 2001 montana van

The heater sensor I think you are talking about it is the upstream oxygen sensor. Sometimes the code reader just says heater sensor upstream and doesn't tell you its actually the heated oxygen sensor.

Need a new po135 - 02 heater circuit

UPSTREAM OXYGEN SENSOR
The oxygen sensor is installed in the exhaust manifold Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 2.4L. or Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 3.0L. or Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor - 3.3/3.8L .

CAUTION: Do not pull on the oxygen sensor wire when unplugging the electrical connector.

WARNING: THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER MAY BE EXTREMELY HOT. USE CARE WHEN SERVICING THE OXYGEN SENSOR.

REMOVAL
Raise and support vehicle.
Unplug oxygen sensor electrical connector.
Use a socket such as Snap-On YA8875 or equivalent to remove sensor.
When the sensor is removed, the exhaust manifold threads must be cleaned with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. If using original sensor, coat the threads with Loctite 771-64 anti-seize compound or equivalent.
INSTALLATION
Reverse removal procedure to install a new sensor
New sensors are packaged with compound on the threads and no additional compound is required. The sensor must be tightened to 27 N·m (20 ft. lbs.) torque

How do i buy online the oxygen sensors for a 2001?

The oxygen sensor are just refered to as upstream for the o2s and down stream are actually refered to as catalytic monitors. So if you have lean or rich codes these would refer to the upstream .

Truck codes p1132 and p1152

Hi,

P1132 = Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Rich - Bank No. 1
P1152 = Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Rich - Bank No. 2

It sounds to me like the oxygen sensors (between the engine and catalytic converters) should be replaced. Good luck!
