SOURCE: timing belt broke -2000 ford focus zx3

Hello mawbea: My name is Roger I will answer your question. You did not say which engine is in your car. So if you have a 2.0 SOHC engine. If the belt broke you should be Ok. If you have the 2.0 DOHC engine. The likely hood of bending the valves are just about a guarantee. How ever with any engine using a timing belt it is possible to bend a valve.Should you need more help please just ask.

SOURCE: 2001 Toyota camry 2.2 L 4 cyl engine timming belt replacement

The 2001 Camry 2.2 has a timing belt.
Recommended change interval is 90,000 miles.
There is no good reason for putting the replacement off, as the belt may be stretched slightly when it nears the rec replace interval, and your mileage may suffer because the engine is not in proper "time".
If the belt jumps time or breaks, it will NOT damage the valves.

SOURCE: toyota timing belt

I just did mine last month. same year & eng. you should have a Chilton repair manual, but... The cams R marked. the marks go straight up on each. the crank has to be on TDC on compression stroke. put #1 piston up (front pass side) & feel for air pressure coming out with your finger to assure its on compression stroke. as you apply the belt, w/ the tentioner off, the cam marks will move out a hair & no longer be ligned up with the marks on the timimg cover backing plate. they will each be off about 1/8 away from the marks on the backing plate. some belts are marked with white lines that line up w/ marks on the pulleys. 610-905-4257 Barry

SOURCE: concern with the timing belt 1997 toyota avalon xls

The maintenance interval is 60,000 miles, but they usally last quite a bit longer before they fail.
This is a non-interference motor , meaning the valves will not hit the pistons if the belt brakes.

How do I set the timing on a 99 Avalon

Hi Kieth, I suggest having the valve timing inspected. If your vehicle uses a timing belt, replace it and if it has a chain or gears, look for damaged or broken parts. If the valve ting has jumped and the engine referred to is a an 'interference' engine, the valves may well have been damaged if the valve timing has jumped. Regards John

Broke timing belt

If the timing belt broke, your car won't run. Fortunately, it's not too expensive to replace, and as long as you are at it, may as well replace the water pump. Usually they have to dismount that in order to get at the timing belt. Generally that is that case, but it all depends on how each car is set up.

What is mileage to replace a timing belt on a 2004 Avalon

Typically any timing belt replacement interval is 60k-75k miles. The book will however tell you 90k. Now it depends on what engine your Avalon came with. The 3.0 is a non interference engine meaning if it does snap, it will not cause any damage to your engine. The 3.5L engine however i dont know if its a interference engine or not but i dont see anywhere where it says it is. As always suggested, change your water pump as well, as it runs off the timing belt. Once i didnt change the water pump and a week later it locked up on me and ruined my perfect new timing belt. Truth be told :) lol

Need step by step to change timing belt on 1996 avalon and what problems there might be

Timing belt replacement is better done by a professional. If it is done incorrectly severe engine damage can result costing over $1000.00. I would discourage any but the most advanced do it yourselfer from changing the belt. If you must do this go to a local autoparts store and purchase a service manual for your vehicle. $25.00 well spent.

Hope this helps!

Does the 1996 T-100 Toyota pick-up have a timing belt or a timing chain?

It has a timing BELT. I just had mine replaced ($600). After well over 100k. It was barely worn so go to the effort/expense of checking before you go whole hog on a replacement. Also the V6 3.4 litre is a NON interference engine.

Any idea if the 96 Rav4 has a non interference engine or an inteference engine? I can't find the answer anywhere!

It is a NON-interferencene. All Toyota products with timing belts are non-interference. All Toyota products from 1998 on. with timing chains, are interference engines..

2001 toyota avalon timing belt out of adjustment

This is not simple and requires a technician with the proper knowledge. Modern engines are non interference which means with the timing improperly set you can severly damage the engine. If the engine has not been damged already I would have the vehicle towed to someone who could repair it. Odds are if the timing is off and the engine wont crank the head has already been damaged.
