I have had the same problem twice. Just that I noticed it has happened when my car (Toyota, Camry XLE V6 2003) has been service for both tires and brakes. It seems to be that mechanics probably activate this sensors by mistake (I guess) or they are not aware of them. I don't know what to do ither. RaTer

I had my 2006 Highlander serviced at 40,000 miles this afternoon. about 12 miles after leaving the dealership, the Check Engine, VCS, and Trac Off lights all came on. Since the service includes tire rotation, I also suspect that the mechanic might have activated something. I'm taking it back tomorrow and will let you know what I find out.

my 2001 lexus ES 300 trac off and check engines both came on at the same time while driving and have stayed on. This happened once before and a week later they went off? What causes this and how do I get them off?

I have a 2003 Avalon and filled up with Mobil gas in Eastern NY State and noticed the station said 10% Ethanol in gasoline. Day later the Check Engine/VS/Trac Off lights came on. I filled with better gas after returning home 6 hours later and am still experiencing the lights, but the car is driving well. Will let the new gas go through for 2-3 more days before servicing but believe the lights will go off with newer gas.

I have just had the same problem this morning for the first time and I suspect it is just bad gas. We have had problems with the check engine light in our camaro whenever we bought hi test at the Mobile gas station closest to our home. I would not be surprised if this same gas station is now having water problems with their regular gas which is what we put in our 4runner. Try STP gas treatment first, which is what I am going to do now. When I used this approach with my camaro, the light went out within a few days. Technically, a sensor might have been damaged, but my thinking is that if that sensor is dead, then my fuel/air mixture will get bad enough to notice pretty quick. The TRAC off and VSC off are just extra lights that go on, whenever the check engine light comes on. I'll let you know how it goes.

THis problem happened to me 2x with a 08 Sienna van. The first time, the car started shaking. We put 2 containers of dry gas in it and the car ran better. We also added air and rotated tires and the lights went out. We are having the same problem again and are trying to figure out what it may be.

Also have '08 Sienna, just happened to me this morning. I called the Toyota dealer. Service Dept. said it might be that the gas cap wasn't screwed on tightly. (Seemed to me that it was, when I checked it.) He said that after tightening it would take at least two cold starts before the lights would go off. So we'll see what happens tomorrow a.m.

My VSC, TRAC and Check Engine lights came on in my 2001 Sienna. I found the brake fluid level to be low in the reservoir. Filling it solved the problem.

Disabling the light doesn't fix the problem, you should have this diagnosed by connecting a diagnostic code reader that can communicate with the traction control system, then go from there.
