Getting code P1491 can't find the switch. Have looked everywhere. The fender is off and still can't find. 1999 Jeep cherokee classic 4.0 with mfg date of 10/1998. I know this is close to when they moved the part to a different location.

Transmission code P1491

Please check the code or you may have it re-scanned. Some shops would let you borrow their scanner. The problem is with the cooling fan. It may be a bad relay or the circuit itself or the wiring may be bad.

P1491 1999 jeep cherokee wont shift after 60

this is an obd2 trouble code table, it can help you understand the meaning of code,
your dtc 1491 is to do with the rad fan relay, very common failure! As for the rear wiper button flashing it means theres a problem with your A/C
or heater controls.

Does the fender flare just sanp on? we bought a replacement for our 1999 jeep cherokee classic and it didnt come with brackets of anykind

The actually fender flare just snaps onto a metal plate that is mounted where the fender flare goes. This metal plate is usually connected to the quarter panel with rivets.

P1491

P1491 is the radiator fan control circuit. I would start w. the simple things, like fuse, then you should check for current at the connector for the fan. If nothing, then the switch, then the relay. The switch typically screws into some portion of the water system and has a two wire connector. The relay is typically remotely located and not located in the fuse/relay box. <!-- from fixya rte -->
