1998 4runner v6. Last year I replaced #1 fuel injector, new plugs & wires. Now I am getting check engine light. Autozone read codes as follows: P0300, P0301, P0303, and P0304. I cleaned the MAF sensor and made sure the wire was still there. Reconnected neg battery cable. Still getting check engine light. Any thoughts? Coil pack? Another injector problem? Thanks.

The MAF sensor is not the problem, these are cylinder misfires on #1,3 and 4. replace the #4 coil pack, #1 AND 4 use the same coil, replace the spark plugs and the wires.

SOURCE: Took my car to Autozone and came up with P0300,

The codes are misfire codes. Try changing the spark plugs and spark plug wire first, that's usually what it is. You may need to unplug the battery afterwards to reset the light, just unplug the positive cable for 5-10 minutes to do this, then plug it back on. If it comes back on you may need a new coil pack, but that's usually rare that happens.

SOURCE: error codes p0300 p0304 p0604

  • Hi,
  • Here is a list of the code definitions you have listed.

  • P0300-random/multiple misfire
  • P0303- Cylinder 3 misfire detected
  • P0304- Cylinder 4 misfire detected
  • P0604 - Internal control module random access memory error (RAM error)

  • You done well to replace the things you have.
  • Since you have replaced the plugs and plug wires and you are sure the are good the we move on to what else could be going on.
  • A faulty coil pack can be at fault as well. So if you had these codes before and after your repairs then the coil pack is the next thing to look at.
  1. Coil packs really just have 4 - 6 bolts to remove them and a new one sets in it's place.
  2. Make sure to mark your wires so you don't loose the firing order.
  • A bad catalytic converter can cause the P030X codes as well.

  • The unfortunate thing about the P0604 code that is associated with the other codes is something KIA was know to have problems with back in the 2000 year time is the ECM that often needed replace.
  • Make sure to check the wires and connectors for the ECM as well but many had to replace the ECM on this vehicle.
  • This could be either thing I listed.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.
Regards, Tony

I have a 2000 gmc jimmy with a service engine soon light. i received the code p0302 misfire detected cylinder 2.I replaced spark plugs and distributor cap and rotor. but still on. any other suggestion?

Well, Spark Plugs wear over time, seldom fail to fire
A worn or dirty rotor and cap will still fire, also

You never throw new wires at it,I don't,mine last 18 years,
on all vehicles

You need some OBD2 knowledge, start studying

The PO302,last # is the cylinder
Number 2 is misfiring

If you got individual coils, go there
If you got an ignition module, for all the cyl,go there
If you got plug wires, there is an extremely odd chance, one burned out inside ,on #2
& you did say your have a dist cap.

So you do have a cylinder monitor, that detected it
That may be the crank sensor, another possible

Need to know the system and how to test it.

You need to give veh specifics ,not just a year

2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS V6 3.0L Cylinder 3 Misfire

Anything is possible but if you want to know if #3 is really misfiring and hurting the performance try pulling the plug wire to cylinder # 3 with the engine off (so you don't get shocked) Now start the care and see how it runs. If it runs the same then #3 is really bad. In that case imagine how much better it would run if #3 was up and operating correctly.

2004 Ford Mustang 3.8L V6 Misfire cylnder 1

If your check engine light is on you have a sensor problem. Some auto parts stores (like AutoZone) will troubleshoot the code free of charge. Chances are you'll only have to pay for the replacement of any engine sensor. It's as easy as changing a spark plug if you know what sensor is bad.

97 Honda Civic shakes at start and check eng light comes on.

It looks like misfiring in one cylinder. That is why check engine come on. Misfiring can be due to spark plugs/wiring/worn distributor cap. Maybe also vaccum leak and clogged injectors (use injector cleaner).
You can read the trouble codes at Autozone store for free
Please kindly let me know if this infor was usefull for you or you need more infro
