I Have a 1997 ford galaxy its starting to splutter when i reach a hill and i got to change down a gear also sometimes it cuts out on me. if i try to restart it the car will only turn over. i cant hear the releys swicth on when i turn the key but if i get out and lock the car wait 15 - 20 seconds the car will always restart.

i think you have a fuel pressure problem on your fuel rail get them to do a fuel pressure check most ford dealers can not do this so find yourself reputable diesel specailist

probably the starter relay. Use a test light or meter and have some try to crank it over while testing the post of the relay which goes to the starter. If it doesn't light up or show voltage, then do the same thing with the terminal that comes from the key/switch. If it doesn't show voltage coming in from the key, then it isn't your relay, if it shows voltage coming in, but not going to the starter when the key is turned, then it is the relay.

try this put some STP gas treatment and checkout your fuel filter which is under the car in the frame on the passenager side and checkout the drive belt if all of this fails have the alternator tested and you would know if its the alternator cause driving at night most of the lights would stay on the dash cause the car would be running off the battery and most of the repair you are having now are easy check out this website it www.autozone.com if they do they will have diagrams and pictures showing you how to repair your car and check on parts and prices at the same time there is www.taurusclub.com i hope i have been some help to you Michigan Man.
