Anthony, aftermarket distributor caps have a design flaw for our particular engine. That info is hard to find on the net, but I chased this problem for months. Try using an AC Delco brand cap and check back. Your contacts under the cap probably have traces of green on them which will appear when moisture gets in there.
It could be the distributor cap is not sitting correctly, lay a piece of sandpaper down on a flat surface and place the cap on top and rub it round a few times, this should help it seat better, only other thing i can think is the icm might have a crack in it and damp is getting in this will stop a spark being made. if it is you can clean the crack and fill with liquid bonding glue, dont matter what type just leave it to dry for 12 hours and keep filling with the glue till its spelled the crack, when dry it should work fine in all weather.

If your engine is cranking really strong make sure you have proper engine timing. If your engine is having a hard time cranking like its cranking really slow. You probably need to check your battery.

you have to remove the distributor, fuel lines, all electrical connections. remove the bolts (carefully, so not to break them), and the intake should come off. you may have to stick a screw driver between the intake and the block but be careful not to mark up the mating surfaces.

Hi, if the car runs fine and the engine light is not on, I doubt there is a problem with the computer. Does the mechanic have an explanation for saying it needs a computer?
