Did you also change the fuel filter.? I twas probably stopped up and was what caused the pump to fail in the first place.

Change your fuel filter and check your fuel pressure regulator located under the intake plenum. Also check where the fuel line comes up near the transmission (under the air intake cowling) between the firewall and engine. They used plastic clips to hold the fuel lines together which will break over time. There also was a recall on that car for leaking fuel rails. Look for worn o-rings on the fuel rails.

Turn on your ignition and try to hear if your fuel pump turns on for 2-3 seconds, if it doesn't then check your fuel pump relay first and your wiring second. If it does energize then check and see if you have any pressure.

Do you have B+ voltage at the pump? And also do you have a good ground?

I need wiring guide for 2000 Cadillac Deville fuel pump

Here's a wiring guide for the fuel pump on a 2000 Cadillac Deville: 1. Remove the fuel tank and access the fuel pump module. 2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the top of the fuel pump module. 3. Locate the wiring harness that runs from the fuel pump module to the car's electrical system. 4. Cut the wires on the old fuel pump module connector, leaving enough wire to splice the new connector onto. 5. Connect the black wire from the new fuel pump module connector to the black wire in the car's wiring harness. 6. Connect the purple wire from the new fuel pump module connector to the purple wire in the car's wiring harness. 7. Connect the gray wire from the new fuel pump module connector to the gray wire in the car's wiring harness. 8. Connect the black/white wire from the new fuel pump module connector to the black/white wire in the car's wiring harness. 9. Connect the new fuel pump module electrical connector to the car's wiring harness connector. 10. Reinstall the fuel tank. Note that it is important to follow the wiring guide carefully to ensure proper installation and avoid damaging the fuel pump or electrical system. If you are unsure about any step of the process, it is recommended to seek assistance from a professional mechanic or refer to the vehicle's service manual.

WE PUT NEW FUEL PUMP ON B2300 MAZDA 1994 YOU PUT GAS IN THE THROTTLE AND IT RUNS BUT WILL NOT START NO OTHER WAY

New pump may be bad--it happens. There should be a check valve that keeps fuel from draining back when you turn it off. If this is not working it could cause this.

We have replaced fuel pump in a 98 ego metro LSi drove home ran fine. Now it won't start any ideas why it won't start.

Pam, was the fuel filter replaced at the same time that the fuel pump was replaced? If not, replace the fuel filter. Often, the filter will get clogged with debris. When that happens, the fuel pump will be ruined. Replacing the pump without replacing the fuel filter can ruin the new pump. It is also possible that your new fuel pump is defective. Now that most replacement parts are made in China and the third world, there is virtually NO quality control. I'm a professional mechanic and defective brand new parts are a BIG problem in this industry. Was the fuel pump relay replaced when the new fuel pump was installed? Always install a new relay, as a failing [your old] fuel pump will often damage the relay. This will cause problems with the new fuel pump. I would advise that you install a fuel pressure test gauge to the engine. This will allow you verify whether or not the engine is receiving enough fuel pressure. If the pump works but the pressure is low, also check the fuel pressure regulator. The web links below should help you.

How to Check for Fuel Delivery in Geo Metro eHow

FYI, there is also a "sock" style pre-filter on the fuel pump. This also needs to be replaced any time that you replace the fuel pump.
