04 Santa Fe Issues

I have a 04 Sante Fe with the 6-disk CD changer and a Sirius sattelite radio installed. The Sirius is not hard wired to the radio. When we leave our house, the radio starts to change stations rapidly. The display keeps flashing between the station the radio is on to flashing a 1 in front of the station on the display. The radio will not work during this time. The CD, AM, FM...nothing. The Sirius looks unaffected. The radio works fine when my husband is leaving work or anywhere else. It only happens when we leave our house, but it can happed 1 minute ofter leaving, or 10 miles down the road. It does not matter is the car has been sitting all weekend, or just for an hour. Our Dodge truck has no issues at all and also has a Sirius radio installed. It is a different model and is hard wired to the radio. Could the radio be going? My husband thinks there is something in the area interfering with the radio, but why the CD player and both AM and FM bands? Also wouldn't it mess with our neighbors 04 Sante Fe the is exactically like mine? But it's not.... It's like there is a little gremlin in the car messing with us.

I would look for a ground that is inadequate.
If any part of this is operating essentially without shielding due to a bad ground, then cell towers, a radio or TV station transmitter, CBs, land mobile radio, amateur radio - any of these can inject enough signal to drive modern electronics completely bananas.
The onboard electronics used for just about everything that is remotely controlled by switches generates a ton of digital garbage and can interfere with anything.

The kind of problem you are experiencing started when we stopped using vacuum tubes 50 years ago operating at high voltages and started using semiconductors that use much lower voltages.

A tech with a common multimeter should be able to locate the missing ground connection without too much trouble.

Can I replace 1 disc OEM stereo radio on 2007 Santa Fe with OEM 6 disc version without wiring changes ?When I tried this there was no volume but I could just hear the sound.

Yes! You can either check the wiring and rewire the new 6 cd player to suit or purchase an adaptor cable that converts from 1 disk cd to 6 disc cd player from the manufacturer!

Where is the auxiliary input in 2007 sante fe elite

If you don't see anything on the radio saying "auxiliary output" with a little earphone jack then you aren't Aux ready.

You might be able to go to a stereo shop and have them install an auxiliary output plug. They will pull the factory stereo out and splice/plug in an output wire that you can plug your iPod into.
