1988 mazda rx7 turbo

I just recently purchased a mazda rx7. The previous owner said the engine and tubo have been rebuilt. It has been sitting for 3 years. What are the fist few steps I should take before starting the car up

If it has been sitting for three years you might have problems. if you let a rotary engine sit for too long than you risk dammaging the apex seals that are on the rotor. deffinally change the oil and make sure its good gas. if you have starting problems of horrible fuel or oil consumption you might have dammaged the apex seals and it would need an additional rebuild to replace those parts. also was the engine broken in properly after the rebuild. if not you can doo even more damage to the engine. make sure that for about 600 miles you drive very cafeully at low Rpms. after the 600 miles change the oil again. P.S. make sure you have no leaks. another huge problem wiht cars that have been sitting but that a whole different set of issues

I have a 1988 Mazda Rx-7 non-turbo and not all the time but every now and then when i go to start it it cranks but wont start. Is the engine flooding or is it something else?

I always start my '88 RX7 with a 2 start procedure. First start is short about 3 engine revs...second time it always starts.
If I don't do that it cranks & cranks.....try it.

I have no compression in the front rotor in my 1987 rx7 turbo

your engine is blown. either find a replacement engine, or have it rebuilt by a reputable engine rebuilder. sorry for your loss.

I have a 1989 mazda rx7 convertible automatic with the 13b rotary engine and im going to swap the engine and tranny for the 13b turbo engine and manual tranny, and also have ecu.is it hard to swap and how.

its not hard at all. as long as your good with your hands. and know the basics of your rx7. other then that everything bolts in. you just need a turbo driveshaft for sure. or they sell a custom driveshaft on mazdatrix.com so you can keep your N/A differential.

Check the injectors, make sure that they arent corroded aswell, and there is a way to convert vane into Maf but i wouldnt do it since they do the same thing. Just make sure the contacts on the inside of the potentiometer are not obstructed and and smooth. IF it is old then it would be ok to replace it. Check the wiring for any cracks to the vane airflow. Also the fuel pressure regulator check that and see waht the pressure is there with it on and off. That might be bad too.
