The P0871 is the transmission temperature sensor.
The P1776 is the Solenoid Switch Valve Locked in L.R.
The P1776 is a very common problem with the Chrysler and Dodge. It costs anywhere from $600-$800 to replace the solenoid. Depending on the transmission shop.
If the car is in good shape, it is probably worth fixing. If you continue to drive the car without replacing the solenoid it will burn the transmission up. If this happens it will cost quite a bit more money to rebuild the transmission. So if you decide that the car is worth fixing, then I would try to get it in as soon as possible. Resetting the computer by turning the key off then back on will only damage the transmission clutches.
Don't bother with the Valve body and solenoid. My 2004 Concorde has the exact same problem and TWO different dealers diagnosed the Valve body and solenoid, and both replaced them, and both were wrong... Still have problem.
Now they want to replace my whole transmission?

P0871-OD PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT
When Monitored: Whenever the engine is running
Set Condition: The appropriate code is set if one of the pressure switches are open or closed at the wrong time in a given gear.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
RELATED RELAY DTC'S PRESENT
INTERMITTENT WIRING & CONNECTORS
OD PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN
TRANSMISSION CONTROL RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT OPEN
OD PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
OD PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
OD PRESSURE SWITCH
TCM - OD PRESSURE SWITCH
P1776 SOLENOID SWITCH VALVE (SSV) LATCHED IN LR (LOW REVERSE) POSITION.
P0841 LR PRESSURE SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT They are probably related. The only way to fix the P1776 is to replace the valve body. The SSV is in the valve body not the solenoid pack. But the good part is that with the valve body you get the solenoid pack. They are together in that transmission. There is no other way to fix that code. You can clear it and it will come back every time the TCM sees the SSV has gotten stuck either in LR or TCC positions.

The car sometimes will not shift out of first gear when driving. If I shut the car off, then restart it then it will usually drive and shift. The car has 120000 miles, is it worth fixing. It is in decent shape.
But the codes you mention are not the same codes I was referring to.
Vetteman,
What is L.R. Stand for? Would this cause the trans to sometimes not shift out of first gear?
The codes you mention are not the same as I mentioned though.
Hi Angelo, thanks for the response. Do you think this is expensive to fix? Approx? Car has 120,000 miles but decent shape otherwise....
