How to Reset the Change Oil Light After changing the engine oil, the system must be reset. With the ignition key to ON, push the RESET button located in the driver's side instrument panel fuse block. The CHANGE OIL light will start to flash, press and hold the RESET button again. The reset is complete when you hear
the chimes sound and the CHANGE OIL light goes out.
On a 2000 alero, you turn on the ignition key and push the gas petal all the way down 3 times within 5 seconds-the change oil light will flash, and it is then reset to 100 percent

in the control panel one the right side of the car there is a reset button. all you have to do is turn the car to when all the lights are flashing and hold the reset button until the car dings.
