SOURCE: landcruiser auto transmission,,how to check fluid level
when you open your hood look in the back of the motor on the left side.. you should see a stick with a circle on the end of it for your finger have you vehicle running warmed up that means let it run for 10 or 15 min. and then pull the stick out.. wipe it off real good. stick it back in all the way.. pull it back out and hold it horizontally and check it.. it's sometimes hard to read because it has bubbles on it.. try it a couple of times to get an accurate reading good-luck ray

First thing to do is check the fluid level if that ok you may want to think about having the transmission filter and fluid changed, there are other possibilities but check these first

the fill pluig is on the side of the transmission case, to access this you must jack the car up and crawl under it to see the plug
SOURCE: can't find transmission dipstick on 2008 toyota tacoma
there is no dipstick it's a sealed unit dealer only.sorry a lot of vehicle manufacturers have went to this sealed style some ford suv's,tacomas, dodge chargers challengers and magnums.just a few off tof of my head.it's one of those BETTER DESIGNS THEY ARE ALWAYS COMING UP WITH TO MAKE YOU BURN UP A 5000 DOLLAR UNIT IN HOPES OF SELLING ANOTHER TRUCK TO REPLACE THE ONE THATS TORN UP.....SORRY oh ya the transfer case has a regular old check plug 28 mm i think don't quote me could be a 30 or 32 also they changed up on those.
