Check the vacuum line to the modulator on the right side of the transmission. A lot of time is dry rots and leaks preventing 4th gear. If that isnt it, remove the line and rubber plug on the end of the modulator and adjust the screw inward a full turn to see if any engagement happens. If so, there's your problem

Have a 2000 Renault scenic 1.6 16v and have a gear selection problem only for 4th gear all the other gears select and 4th gear selects very hard and then jumps out of gear straight away when selected.

Sounds like it has run low of transmission oil. You may be able to save it by draining the gear lube and refill with DELCO synthetic Automatic transmission fluid. Make sure level is correct. The 4th gear syncro is bad, but the Delco ATF will help.

1991 chevy lumina automatic transmission, slips in 4th and overdrive, and you can push the car in all gears except park

Well, you can push any automatic trans car in any gear except park.
As for slipping in overdrive which is 4th gear, if the trans is full of fluid, you're probably looking at replacing it to fix it.
Could be a list of things such as clutches or dirt in the valve body.

Auto won't down shift when o/d button is pushed

This button only makes the gearbox change from 3rd to 4th or 4th to 3rd, will not down shift in any other gear, make sure it is in 4th gear, usually above 60km, than press o/d off it should go into 3rd gear, if it does not than see a automatic specialist, it is usually a sensor, if you go to Toyota they will charge you a fair bit.

2000 toyota echo, transmission won't shift to 4th

First thing to do is check the fluid level if that ok you may want to think about having the transmission filter and fluid changed, there are other possibilities but check these first
