Just follow the firing order of 1-3-4-2. Take off the distributor cap to see which way the rotor spins when the engine is cranking, either clockwise or counter clockwise. then, with number 1 cylinder and it's position on the distributor cap tower, you just use the firing order to fit the wires 1-3-4-2.
So you know the engine cylinders are numbered 1,2,3 4-front to back of engine. If you need to find where #1 on the distributor tower is, you have to find Top Dead Center of the compression stroke on number 1 cylinder. Then the rotor on the distributor shaft will be pointing directly to the #1 cylinder's tower.
Post back if you need help finding TDC of compression stroke on #1 cylinder.
FIRING ORDER IS 1 2 3 4 5 6 STANDING IN FRONT VECHICLE CYLINDERS TO THE LEFT SIDE ENGINE FACING YOU ARE 1 3 5 CYLINDERS ON THE RIGHT SIDE FACING YOU IS 2 4 6. NOW DRAW A LARGE CIRCLE TOP OF CIRCLE WRITE NUMBER 1 BOTTOM OF CIRCLE WRITE NUMBER 4 ON LEFT SIDE CIRCLE UNDER NUMBER1 WRITE NUMBERS IS 2 AND 3 ON THE RIGHT SIDE CIRCLE BELOW NUMBER 1 WRITE NUMBER 6 AND 5 THAT CIRCLE YOU DREW IS YOUR DISTRIBUTOR PLUGS LOCATION NOW YOU CAN PLACE PLUGS WIRES FROM DISTRIBUTOR TO THE RIGHT SPARK PLUGS LOCATION TO THE CYLINDER BLOCK.LET ME KNOW HOW IT WORKS OUT.
No absolutely sure on exactly what you need on the "engine diagram".
Most people need to know what the Cylinder Numbers are.
Let me know with a more specific question (done on the Comments section of this Posting) and I'll get back with you.
For the 4.0L L6: Firing Order: 1-5-3-6-2-4
Cylinders: (back) ..6 ..5 ..4 ..3 ..2 ..1 (front)
Coils Paired: Cylinder 1 with Cylinder 6 Cylinder 2 with Cylinder 5 Cylinder 3 with Cylinder 4

What size Engine?
The Number 4 fuel injector goes to Cylinder #4.
On 3.3L and 3.8L it should be the Front Middle Cylinder.
If you are not sure where Cylinder #4 is. Look on your Electronic Ingition Coil = Distributor. It has small numbers on them #1 thru #6. The numbers are small and black, but they are there. Follow that #4 wire to Cylinder #4. Fuel Injector #4 should be right over the top of that Cylinder. Usually the Cylinders themselves have numbers on them on the engine block, but it is easier for use to use the Ignition Coil as a reference.
Cylinders Numbers should be:
1 - 3 - 5 Rear
2 - 4 - 6 Front
Ignition Coil should be:
6 - 3 Rear
4 - 1 Middle
2 - 5

you need the firing order?? it is 1, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 clockwise. Number
one on cap is forward position, or 6 o'clock position, just left of the
hold down bolt.
