You may have a faulty sensor, most cases a wheel speed sensor, the light is on warning you that you do not have abs basically your car will stop like an old 70's model car before abs. abs atands for anti lock brakes, it keeps your brakes from locking up under extreme braking.

2008 jeep grand cherokee abs problem

Usually means the wheel sensor is bad or a wiring problem to that sensor. The warning lights are on to tell you those systems are turned off.

Abs light stays on in my 97 jeep grand cherokee

The light means there is a problem with the abs pump or one of the sensors for the abs system. Your regular brakes will function normally but while the light is on you have no antilock braking. Abs systems can be fairly complicated, it may be best to take the truck to a reputable repair shop.

Abs light is on and abs dont work ,plus reverse lights dont come on for my 1993 grand cherokee

if your ABS does'nt work meaning theres a problem, you need a Scanner to identify what causes maybe your sensors are not working (4X4 = 4 sensors , 2X4 = 2 front sensors) or damages/dirty , or you ABS pump are not working properly, regarding your reverse light, check the fuse, relay, bulb and even your wiring connection..regards

1994 jeep grand cherokee dash lights come on when brakes are applied. Altenators is charching and battery and teminals are good checked ground from battery to motor its good where do i go from hetre

What dash lights come on? if its the brake or ABS lights that means your brake pads need to be changed, in some brake pads there is a sensor that also has to be replaced if you have gone too far into the rotor.

I have a 2004 grand cherokee and a light that says ABS has been on for about 20 min, what does this mean?

it means you having an issue either with one of your speed sensors on your hub assemblies or perhaps a problem with a module. You can get a scan tool and enter into live data and view each sensors operations. Before you do that, look for messed up wires at ur abs sensors on ur wheel bearings.

My 97 jeep grand cherokee makes a chirping sound under front

The noise and the light may or may not be related. The noise may be the wear indicator on the brake pads touching the rotor (they are supposed to do that when brakes are worn) The abs light triggers off a wheel on the axle end. If you have a bad joint on the axle, it could be noisy and causing the wheel to not have the proper clearance to the abs sensor. You really need to take the wheel and brake assembly off and carefully inspect everything. Make sure all abs sensor wires are undamaged...it doesn't have to be at the same wheel that's chirping.

Both the abs and brake light is on and stays on what could be wro

Your ABS systems use a combination of electronic and hydraulic systems to modulate the brakes individually to prevent them from locking up. Antilock systems consist of wheel speed sensors, a hydraulic control unit (HCU), and an electronic control unit (ECU). Because of how complex the system is your computer does a self-test. If the check is successful, the ANTILOCK and BRAKE lights will go out within a few seconds. If one of the component of the ABS system fails to pass the test one or both lights will remain lit. One or both warning lights may also come on while driving, also indicating a problem. If just the ANTILOCK warning light comes on, some ABS component has failed, but the car still has hydraulic brakes. You or a technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint cause and the proper repair.
