Check the airflow sensor. Maybe its faulty. It will cause the air fuel mixture to be too lean causing the engine to knock.

Toyota estima engine knocking sound

Hi there,

Sounds like the engine timing is out - possibly due to incorrect spark plug gaps? If the plug gaps are correct, then there may be an issue with your Knock sensor.

In either case, your vehicle's on-board computer will have stored the appropriate fault codes, so have your codes read by your local Toyota dealership (this takes about 10mins to read your codes).

Once the codes are extracted, this will identify the culprit circuit.
