Something may be intermittently heating up or a connection vibrating and causing temporary failure of the ignition or fuel system. Any recent work on the engine ?
check the level of the transmission fluid while the engine is running. also has the transmission been "flushed"? a lot of shops just use dextron atf with the additives supplied by the supplier of the flushing machine. this can cause problems in toyotas. replacing the fluid with the correct (T IV) transmission fluid may help. but if you are having this much trouble it may be too late.
Have you had your transmission serviced, lately. Something in your drive train may be causing this . However, it is only sporadic. The fluid level may be too low or the pump may be going bad.
mine did the same thing and it was oxygen sensor since engine light came on there should be an error code on computer.Get a diagnostic checker or take to a garage and have them hook uo to the diag connector. I bought a diagnostic checker few years ago and it has come in very handy sure hope this helps!!
1.the engine light will be on when you ignight the car but if it stays on even when you finish you should start worrying.
2. That jerking might be transmission problems.
you will probably find the problem stated with a poor connection in the headlight switch plug and is now heating up and looseing conection in a short time.remove the headlight switch and you will see what i mean.
1st thing to do is have the system tested for the code that caused the check engine light to come, you may also have a fuel pump starting to fail or many other things, the check engine light may be the key. How many wiles on the car?
