Bad sensor in one wheel, they are part of the wheel bearing. Could also be a bad abs computer module, either way, not cheap.

Service brake system warning on driver info center on dash

Possibly a defective ABS sensor, or low brake fluid. Recommend a reputable mechanic to assess the issue.

I changed the front brake rotors and pads also the rear cyliners and shoes and bled the rear brakes but not the front because i didnt disconect the front brake lines. So why is my brake pedal so soft? and...

keep bleeding and bleed the front as well the littlest amount of air will keep pedal spongy if the abs came on after doning brakes check the abs lines and connections up front the abs lines sometimes get banged up will doing brake job the abs sensor is the wire that runs from behind the rotor to the fire wall sometimes they get hit knocked into or damaged if wiring looks good have vehicle scanned for code .the code will make it easier to pinpoint what side-- if circuit problem--or if sensor went bad most auto stores offer scanning for free

Rear brakes not working proper. I have never liked the brakes on my 2500 chevy pickup. I bought the truck second hand. I have since replaced the front pads twice. The front pads were gone in 18,000...

e-brake pedal should go farther- is either out of adjustment or cable frozen- secondly sounds like only front brakes receiving enough pressure to "activate" properly- bleed all four brakes starting rear pass, then rear drive ,then front pass, then front drive- use plenty of fluid- bleed till fluid is clean without bubbles- will that long at first- this will insure not bubbles and no moisture- if a pro valve dies, you would have more problems- pedal would be really soft, would have both a brake light and abs warning lights

What brake ststem do 2001 silverados have? rear brakes

Hi. Your 2001 Chevy Silverado is equipped with Antilock Brake System (ABS). You will identify also if your car is equipped with ABS by looking at the instrument panel for a yellow ABS indicator light after you turn on the ignition.

All the best!

Truck has 195,000 on it. after it has been running for a couple of min the abs light and the parking brake light both come on, brake fluid is full, has new front hubs with abs sensor in them (last year),...

Yes the rear has sensors, but seeing you just had front pads installed, I'd look for a loose or broken wire in the front first. I've installed front pads with the sensors and thought I got them installed right, come to find out they were not making good connection on the pads.

My ABS light on my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado comes on periodically, what does that mean?

WHEN ABS LIGHT COME THAT MEANS YOUR ABS BRAKE SYSTEM NOT WORKING.I WOULD CHECK FUSE AND RELAY FIRST IF ALL IS GOOD.THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX.BECAUSE YOU NEED DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT TO WORK ON THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM.

My Chevrolet silverado ss abs light came on?

Take the wheel off and check the brake pads, they are probably worn down, and the metal backing on the disc brake pad is rubbing against the rotor. If that is the case, the rotor will need to be replaced, or turned down if it isn't too bad.

Remove service brake system display from dashboard?

Check ABS system for codes. I have an '03 Silverado and have a faulty EBCM( Electronic Brake Control Module, "ABS module"). Can't reset anything. Only replacement of EBCM will fix it. Incidentally, if you have to replace it, you can check on Ebay for a rebuilt unit. You shouldn't have an issue with your "base" braking system though, if this is the case. ABS is electronically controlled and with or without it, your brakes will still function. I hope this helps.
