Turn the key to the On position & leave it there until the Theft System light stops flashing (takes about 10 minutes). Turn key to off for 10 seconds, & car should then start.

CarGurusFeb 23, 2011 - Why does the anti theft system keep tripping on my 03 malibu - Every other day my anti-theft system goes off in my car then I have to reset it. It's not ha... ...it needs a pass lock sensor/ ignition lock cylinder. 10 out of 10 people think ... Wait 10 minutes until the light stops flashing, then start. Repairs could run ...
This is the anti-theft system working properly. The vehicle has lost communication with the key and it this causes it to go into theft mode. This can happen randomly, or if the battery in the vehicle was replaced. Unfortunately this means a trip to the dealership to have them reprogram a key.
I have had the same problem. This has happened to me three times in the past nine months or so. Per the owner's manual, you turn the key to the on position and wait about ten minutes. This resets the system and when the "Theft System" light goes out, it starts right up. I did this each time and it started right up.
all gm vehicles from 97-2005 have a theft system called the passlock system. (how to deactivate system on chevy malibu) turn key on engine off, let it stay on for at least 10 minutes, then turn ignition off, take out key from ignition switch. after 1 minute start the car. you can also go to tubesound.com to disable system for good. --tubesound.com/passlocksystem. ( just type in the problem when page comes up ). have a good day!! vehicle will not start with system blinking. it thinks its being stolen.
it resets the anti theft system, so vehicle will start. all gm vehicles from 97-2005, contain a anti theft system called a passlock system. go to tubesound.com to disable passlock for good. (just type in your problem when page comes up).
all general motors vehivles from 97-2005 contain an anti-theft system, called a passlock system. try this it will work on a malibu theft system. turn key on engine off for about 10 minutes, after 10 minutes turn key off. wait 15 seconds then try to start car. if it is the passlock system this will reset it.
I think you may have answered your own question. I would check to see if the fuel pump is turning on when you turn the key on to the run position. You should hear a buzz sound coming from the gas tank. I would start there.
I think the anti theft anewer is correct. I have an extra key for my
'99 Lincoln continental that apparently doesnt have whatever "chip" it
needs in it. If you try to use that key it cranks but won't start. I
don't know if the key "chip" can fail or not. Maybe a quick
conversation with a lock smith will shed some light on the
problem.
if you chans the conputor will this fix it,
99 cutlass.Changed ignition swith, and now will not start. It acts like it is not getting fuel.
