I own a chevy monte carlo 2003. I recently had the BCM replaced along with the battery for the old one locked up my security system and left me stranded. they replaced it at the dealership and now its working great. except i tried to have it inspected and found out my fog lights won't work. fuses are fine and i know they were working fine before the bcm was replaced. what can i do to get them working again?

SOURCE: Cluster & Centerstack Controls do not backlight

DO NOT BUY bcm's online...especially if they're used. Reason being is they have to be programmed to your vehicle. For example...if you have certain options (keyless entry, power sliding doors, etc..) and the bcm u buy isn't "set up" for it...they won't work. A bcm, like any other electronic component is yours the moment u buy it. NO RETURNS!! Also, if you have a factory alarm, or a programmed key for your vehicle..the wrong bcm will NOT allow these options to work. It's just like buying a used computer for your engine...you MUST program a VIN# into it, key codes, etc.. into it or it WON'T work. Becareful how you spend $$ on online modules. Remember....NO RETURNS!! You buy it...you own it. Good luck. P.S...the electrical issues probably have nothing to do with your engine repairs UNLESS someone pinched a wire during the head replacement.

The truck will not start if the BCM is repalced but not programmed. The theft system will prevent it for several reasons.

SOURCE: Monte carlo radio is theftlocked.

you need the unlock code from the manufacturer. I had a radio lock up but the company had me send it to them for them to unlock. i had to prove that i bought it and it was not stolen.

SOURCE: My 2001 L200 Saturn has body control module

reprograming is very common, this is done all the time even with newer cars, some times cars new newer or diffrent programing installed in them and dealer is the only one that can do it unless someone has a dealer scan tool.As far as replacing it would depend on the problem and i think the dealer would of told them the computer was bad. hope this helps.

thats a issue for a pro cause dealers dont have olschoolers with the knowledge-they just want to sell new cars--independent shops must reprogram the computer using a landline only cause a wireless connect doesnt download the complete data--send delemma to [email protected] for more advice

I changed the ignition switch in my 2003 chevy monte carlo I did the 3 11 min steps and still wont try to start any suggestions

Is the security light flashing? Did the light respond to your 3/10 attempts. Make sure the battery is fully charged then just try to start. Many times while changing the switch the door stays open add to that your attempts to start and the battery will have enough current to run the starter but nothing left for ignition and fuel injectors. I hope this helps. Take care.

Reset security on 04 monte carlo

If you leave your key in the ON position for 15 minutes, the security system should relearn it and work once again. But the halo around the lock cylinder needs changing. You can purchase a kit from GM that includes the lock cylinder along with the halo. you do not need to replace everything, just the halo is what usually goes bad.

Does the bcm control the alarm in a 2006 monte Carlo? I can't seem to get the alarm to go off. I've also noticed that I have no chime and turn signal sounds. I just recently purchased this car and...

The no chime and turn signal has nothing to do with the alarm. You have a issue with power supply to turn flasher and door chime. The alarm consist of The door ajar switch, body control module, front door lock switch, power door lock switch. You need to check your fuse for turn signal and the door chime

The battery died on my 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo and after the first time I jumped it and drove it around a little to try and charge the battery, the Security light came on. After I parked it and turned it...

Im pretty knowledgable in the whole SECURITY light issue... I dont think this could cause the door lock to not work correctly, but anything is possible. Newer cars are wound up pretty tight. Here is a link to help understand how the security works.

I'd go ahead and do a "security relearn" on you car. It might help if that is what caused the door issue.
Turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) Turn back your key to regular position and check the door lock. May have to do this process 3x

How do i replace a anti-theft relay for a 2003 chevrolet monte carlo?

not sure what you mean this car doesn't have an (antitheft relay) it has a BCM that receives resistance data from ignition switch and when the data matches programming then car will start. if the data is changed or not reading then the car will not start and security light will flash BCM will shut down starter and fuel delivery. if the security light flashes when you attempt to start the car. the security sensor in the ignition switch will need to be replaced and programmed to the BCM. this is very common problem to these cars.

Have a 2003 Monte Carlo SS. Usually happens when I first start the car. The cruise control light comes on in dashboard at the same time the air, heat and defrost won't work. After a few minutes everything...

most of the newer cars especially the new chevys are all ran off the bcm or body control module, i would have someone with a snap-on brand tester check to bcm and the parts of your car first to make sure what is all wrong, could just be a shorted wire or a broken vacuum hose
