ok my problem is my chevy blazer is that my reverse wont work and that even in neutral it still goes forward like its in drive any body got any suggestions
I am having the same problem with my 2004 XJ8. The shifter is in the park position but the reverse light is on. The car thinks it is reverse despite the shifter postion at park. I am unable to get it out of park position or start the engine.
I'm Going to say the low/reverse 1 way roller clutch is broken, you are hearing the low/rev.planetary gear set spinning.it is at the very rear of the tranny, right where it bolts to the transfer case.It may have died of old age but the ones I've broken have been rocking the truck out of snow or holeshots. If that's the only thing wrong,it's a cheap(used) part but the whole transmission has to come apart, lots of labor.
Sounds like a likely possibility, the reverse method definetly did the trick in loosening the brake, but it may still be slightly applied, put it in a warm place when you can, or have a shop look at it indoors, it may need to be re-adjusted, or even just warmed up until the cable frees up again
Make sure you have brake lights. This is were the shifter solenoid gets it's signal from to get it out of gear.
One thing you can try is turn the igntion switch towards the run postion stopping just short of activating the electronics. Then try and move shifter to neutral then you can start it and out it into gear so you can drive it to get it fixed.
