My 1992 Nissan Pickup doesnt start and it is not the starter or the battery. It is a 5 speed manual and im thinking its the button behind the clutch that is causing this. ive tried to use the "interlock button" to override it and it still doesnt turn over. What is the part that is behind the clutch that has to be pressed to engage the starter? THe other reason i think its this because ive had to keep making sure the clutch is all the way to the floor to start the truck.

Hi. Let me try to lend you a bit of assistance, also.
My fellow expert Benimur is very correct with his input to you.

But...Air does not get into your clutch hydraulics unless the fluid has leaked out at some point. As long as the cylinders and tubes are intact, I would doubt that air is the issue. Short of pulling the transaxle, and inspecting the clutch, there is really no other way to determine your issue properly.

Personally, I think that you haven internal problem with the clutch assembly. It could be worn fingers on the clutch plate, a worn clutch disc, or something as simple as the throwout bearing is hanging up on the input shaft collar.

If Beni's suggestions does not help, you are going to need to pull the trans off, and inspect the clutch items mentioned above.

Thanks for choosing FIxYa, we wish you the best of luck; let us know how it turns out.

Check the fluid level. Try to bleed the clutch system it may have air in it. If that dont work let me know

If the seals around the shafts of master and slave are tight, they may be concealing a leak with fluid bypassing the piston seals internal to the two assemblies. Either your master or slave cylinders need to be replaced ot have new seals installed. Once you find the culprit and have installed a replacement, you will have to bleed the lines to evacuate air trap in the lines.

There is an adjustment for the clutch pedal under the dash where the push rod goes thru the firewall. There is only aprx. 1/2" of adjustment so be careful when making an adjustment, if your clutch is slipping then you need to shorten the throw of the push rod.

When i turn the key it just makes a click sound and nothing happens

If the battery is charged and the cables are clean, you are probably hearing the starter solenoid on the starter trying to engage.
If the starter can not be jumped directly, I would agree the starter is faulty.

1992 nissan pickup, manual transmission, does not start, had new battery installed, had starter cheched ( it's good) what could be the problem for not turning over?

Ignition, ignition switch, bad ground, wiring from battery to starter. Will it push start?? Also try getting a test light and see if your even getting power and ground to the starter (pos cable at starter should be hot all the time) and grounded to the frame when bolted in.

1995 nissan pu wont start... everything turns on

check for power to the starter at the starter's connectors while you have someone turn the key. If there is power, change the starter. If not check your ignition switch, (manual trans)clutch pedal switch, and starter fuses/relays. Hopefully this helps
