Driving down the road and the power steering went out. Lifted hood, and belt is trying to turn but slipping. Looks like radiator may be starting to let out steam. Any ideas?

Maybe your power steering pump went. if the belt is not wet, but still tries to slip on the power steering pump pulley, the pump is probably starting to seize up. Did you check your power steering fluid? Try to remove the belt from the power steering pump pulley, then turn the pulley by hand to see if the pump is seized

Why would my steering wheel lock up when i was backing up?

Check your power steering fluid to see if it is low. Also look to see if it looks like the belt is slipping. You may have a power steering pump that is failing.

Power steering belt may be slipping or there isn't enough fluid in the reservouir of the pump.

Overheating when driving down the road

Most common cause is a internally plugged radiator.
The water and coolant often react negatively to the metals and rubber inside the passageways to clog the radiator over time. If you wish to try to "reverse flush " it yourself, ask "fixya".
Other causes may be: Stuck thermostat, plugged fins of radiator outside, water pump slipping or starting to fail by "freezing up",
loose or slipping serpentine belt, and problem with the engine cooling fan.

I have a 1999 explorer. I felt a little bump while I was driving slowly through a parking lot & all of a sudden it felt like I had no power steering. I pulled over a little further down the road &...

Check to see if the serpentine belt is broken or has come off the pulleys. One belt runs the power steering and water pump. If the belt is broken or has fallen off, it will need to be replaced.

Power steering went out while driving and battery

If the belt gets wet and flies off, or starts to slip, the power steering and alternator will stop spinning causing this condition.

Check belts to see if they are still on the truck and spinning the pulleys of the alternator and power steering pump.

Died driving down the road, no problem turning over, but won't start

It souds like the same problem i had a few months ago, have your timing belt checked, i am most certainly sure that it is the belt, usualy the belt breaks, or slips off the pulley.......hope this is helpful.
